Temple fans..Need Help
Coming up for ECU-Temple game. First time to Philly. Where is a central place to stay near field and to see all the sights? Thanks in advance.

You're right, Temple fans have been emotionally scarred over the years.

Look for hotels in/near Center City. If you're centrally located, you'll be able to go pretty much anywhere via public transit. If you have a car, getting anywhere around Philly won't be an issue.

Agree with JHG. Center City is the place to stay, then you can just take the subway down or take a cab. I would personally stay on the Rittenhouse side. The downtown of Philly is very walkable, if you need recommendations for restaurants or things to do/see give us a holler.

Ditto on the center city recommendations. Lively downtown scene.

Center City is our downtown. It's a short train ride or drive from there to the stadium. I like the Marriott on Market Street. It's a big hotel near Chinatown and other sites. It should be midrange priced. The Hampton Inn nearby would be a cheaper option ..

Was just about to bump this to ask the same thing. I looked at those plus the Hampton inn and Embassy suites. Anyone have experience with those? Also seems like there is a Courtyard and a Marriott pretty close to each other? What's the difference?

Not exactly sure what I'm looking for (just somewhere decent to sleep really--I'm wanting to explore). I've only booked one hotel in my life and it was somewhere I had already been with family. Everything looks nice in pictures and on Google earth....most reviews were favorable.

Any of those hotels will be fine. The one thing to keep in mind is that the Hyatt and Sheraton that are also mentioned in this thread are at the eastern most edge of Center City so they are less cerntrally located than the others. They're in a very nice neighborhood with plenty of good restaurants and are close to historical sites, they just aren't as centrally located.

I've stayed numerous times at the Marriott and the Courtyard. Both are nice, standard issue business travel type places to stay. There is little difference in the rooms between the two. The Marriott is a full service large convention hotel which means it has restaurants and other services on site that the Courtyard doesn't. That's really on the only significant difference between the two. Given the places you've listed and the fact that you are just looking for a place to sleep, I'd just choose whichever one of those places has the least expensive rooms. All of them are conveniently located to tourist destinations and public transportation.

There's nothing really immediately around that spot. Get over to Walnut St area.

You'll be fine. Right near Chinatown (the Vietnamese restaurants in that section are actually better IMHO) and the Reading Terminal Market (an historic market from the early 1900's) where you can get the best __________ sandwich in Philly (I think it is pulled pork w broccoli rabe or something like that. I forget the name of the vendor, but a Philly sandwich-phile will jump in here with better info).

You'll be a couple blocks from the Broad St. subway (if you are not driving). Take it south to the last stop (Pattison Ave). The stadium complex will be obvious. Just follow the crowds.

Dining afterward will give you a host of choices. Philly is a really good restaurant city. Head to South Street for some wildlife sightings. Enjoy.

Dinic's is the vendor you're thinking of and they do have good sandwiches. My favorite is the roast pork with brocolli rabe, provolone and roasted peppers, but there are plenty of other good options to choose from there.

I could not agree more, the Reading Terminal Market is 3 blocks away from you, be sure to go there hungry and they are only open until 6, they may close earlier on Sunday.

DiNic’s roast pork and broccoli rabe is a must to get the local flavor of Philly.
