ECU Fans....
According to our coach on our coach's show last night, we're working out a home and home with you guys. No details on date (presumably many years from now) or whether a return game would be played on campus or at BoA.

Just to be clear, I don't think anything is agreed upon, it sounded like there had just been talks and they had been promising. I don't think it is a situation where there has been an agreement and we're just settling on dates.

Would be intersting, after ECU i think the next best school in the UNC system is Charlotte. It would help ECU build presence in Charlotte we do come down to play in your stadium. GL hope you make the best out of CUSA like we have.

You guys had a much better foundation to come into CUSA on though. I'm optimistic, but I think the next two years are going to be kind of rough.

Please handle Marshall and keep the NC pride going, Marshall fans are so intolerable. It will be rough, but the best thing going for Charlotte is her city atmosphere and I am sure recruits and students have already came to recognize this. Charlotte will continue to grow and flourish.

No offense, but I sure as hell hope NOT on the H&H part. Running towards a new program and signing H&Hs is a NCSUX trait.

Nah, I understand.

I also understand it from the coach's perspective though. Charlotte has a lot of football talent and ECU doesn't really have much of a presence in this city from what I've seen (and I've lived here for 25 of my 28 years).

I can see why he'd be willing to sign a H&H to get a game in the city.

I'm not sure about that. Nobody really has a big presence in Charlotte except maybe sc and Clemson. I still see a lot of ecu shirts and car decals, a lot more than I thought I'd see. Just moved to concord 3 months ago.

My Daughter has narrowed her list of colleges to UNCC (where I'm trying to convince her to go), UNCW, and App. State, and I have several neighbors whose kid(s) go to UNCC, so I feel that there would be A LARGE CONTINGENT OF PIRATES @ this game! I would hope it would be played @ BOA Stadium, just for the capacity. Good luck with the season, and as another poster said, make the MOST of your time in CUSA! 04-rock

Some will have a huge problem with the idea but it wouldn't bother me down the road. Only thing I will say is I doubt we'd agree to play in your home stadium unless/until you complete your next level of expansion. I'm sure you could correct me if I'm wrong but isn't your current capacity around 15k and you have the ability to add 10k or so of temp seats? Still not big enough considering we've brought around that many fans to neutral site games at BOA.

I'd like to see a long-term basketball H&H with Charlotte. We've been conference mates twice before, and played OOC many times.

As for football, I don't think it would be wise for us to play at Charlotte until you get your stadium expanded. 15K is too small and BofA is probably too big.

Me too. The basketball games have always drawn pretty well. It should be a yearly series. I'm sure your fans would much rather see us on the schedule than a non-d1 school.

RE: ECU Fans....
This is ridiculous. We have nothing to gain from this and the last 15 years we have played OOC

ODU
App State (2)
NC Central

That's it other than a national school like Navy and P5 schools. Now you introduce a playoff with a legit chance to actually get in (other teams like TCU (multiple times) and Cincy would have in the past for example under this system) and we downgrade our schedule now when it actually can be done. It's stupid.

You already see a one loss ECU team can be ranked higher than any other G5 if you actually play legit teams. There's nothing to gain by softening the schedule and frauding your way into national embarrassment like NIU. Compher has been pathetic scheduling. What have we got now, NC Central, UNCC, Marshall. Good lord.

I can't go with a 1v1. And definitely not at the on-campus stadium. I could deal with a 2v1 with the one in Charlotte at BoA.

Who said we are softening it? Our schedule is stacked with big name teams through 2020. I would have 0 problem with playing charlotte but it is too soon for a H&H. If we did a series it would need to be something like 3 at home 1 at BOA and one at Charlotte. If they don't agree, I understand but they need to earn the H&H like we had to. I say we try and get them for a pay home game, hopefully they agree like App and ODU did. We should also include in the deal where we play them in basketball, Wbball, and baseball home and home.

Go back and look at the schedules from the 80's and 90's where we routinely played 5-7 P5 schools a year in 11 games. Go back to the Holland press conference in the mid 2000's where he declared if you want let us in a BCS conference, we'll schedule our own BCS schedule. That's exactly what he did with 3 or 4 out of 4 OOC games. If you can't see this schedule going backwards you are completely blind. We have had good schedule for decades now and how we built this fanbase to the point it blows every other school like us away. Now we are pissing away half our our valuable 4 OOC games and crap like this.

We should never play any of them. There is zero for our program to gain by beating them and if we did lose.

No reason we can't do that anyway. We average as many fans, have as big an arena, are having as much success lately, and spend as much money on basketball. When they do that in football give them a home and home. they are 2 years old and play in a 16k seat stadium.

RE: ECU Fans....
SJ,
I just think ECU is at the point where we should be scheduling 3 BCS teams H&H and getting 1 tune up game. If we went undefeated this season with our schedule, (even with NCCU) we would be in talks as a playoff team. Notice I said talks. With this philosophy some years we would have 7 home games, 2 of which being BCS games, and one being a team with regional appeal. Charlotte has that regional appeal.

This is the direction I hope ECU goes in, we don't need murders row. This isn't the 80's or 90's anymore, we need to focus on games we can win so we can earn the g5 bowl spot. We will still garner national respect and we will still take down the big dogs

BTW. I absolute hate that we took a pay game with Florida, only exacerbated by the fact our AD scheduled it the year after we lose some of our big weapons.

I don't want to hijack the thread so sorry for the off topic tangent I took. I am pro scheduling charlotte, just not H&H

I'd think a H&H would be awesome. Maybe every other year. Some of the arguments here against it sound like the same things UNC@Chap and NCSU say 05-nono

I think it would be a fun series. Just not at Jerry Richardson Stadium... not yet. Wait till the first expansion happens. I'd be fine with games at BoA.
