One time there was total agreement that the Beverly Hillbillies theme song was the best ever. "Oh let me tell you a story 'bout a man named Jed.." Outside of that, no.

I have been in turnaround situations and I am assuming that this coach was hired based on his past TURN AROUND experience and success. When you go from 2018: 9-33 overall, 6-15 conference to 2019: 32-24 overall, 17-6 conference; beat #8 LSU, won division, won conference, made NCAA Regional...etc, you are doing something right. This is the same type of scenario that Fuente went through when he came here and also what Calipari went through. Our program needs to be "turned around" and this coach seems to be able to get the job done based on past performance. In the job interview, his ability to turn around a college baseball program would have taken up a large part of the job interview.
Did you happen to look at Rock's first three years?
2005 14-32
2006 31-28
2007 36-27 NCAA
In 5th rated baseball ball conference.
Tigers have constantly been playing in a top 5 baseball conference.
Jackson comes from historically the worst conference in baseball.
Jackson is dramatically stepping up in competition.
I don’t know where you get the AAC is the 5th rated conference. AAC and SWAC have the same amount of teams in the tourney.
ACC and SEC 9 teams
Big 12 and PAc12 5 teams
Sunbelt 4 teams
ASUN, Big 10, Con USA, Missouri Valley,West Coast, WAC, 2 teams
The rest of the conferences have 1
Nolan's college baseball conference power ratings. I don't pull data out of my ass. I research before I post.
That is 2021 data from Nolan. Look at the Ivy League.Yale beat auburn 2 of 3. 2-2 against Washington. Penn beat Texas A&M 2 0f 3. Harvard went 1-2 against Miami fla and 3-1 against Rice.

My point was the warren Nolan is pulling crap from his ass. His rankings are worthless bc he doesn’t have have complete data. The data you sent stating AAC was the 5th strongest conference is way wrong. To say the Big 10 doesn’t play non conference games shows the lack of effort.
Btw Memphis is 201 in 2022 RPI

I would have thought we’d have hired an up & coming asst coach with some recruiting chops and ties into other asst coaches they could bring into our program. Think Fuente or Norvell but for baseball? Just want a proven winner looking for the next stepping stone.
Affirmative action?
That's a racist statement
Crap, it seems like everything in the world is called racist now. It is like ketsup, they spread it on everything.
For a certain political group everything is racist.
Let me get this straight...Jed could shoot the wings off a fly at 100 yds, backwards - using a mirror. But he got his wealth because he missed a shot on some game animal and struck gold? Maybe the day he missed the shot, he had been into Grannie's elixir.
I like the hire. Not a 'wow' hire - at least to those outside the industry. But he's got some good experience evaluating talent, seems respected by those inside baseball, and has recruiting ties throughout the region from Missouri to Arkansas to Louisiana.
