RE: RIVALRIES
I’d say the biggest games this weekend may be Bellarmine vs. oLU.

I watched one of the games... decent crowd for covid and they got pretty loud. You could tell it's a good rivalry.

Make no mistake JU & UNF do not like each other. JU (private)is old urban Jax, UNF (public) is new suburban north fl. There is a difference. I have attended most of the 37 games played. It gets raucous and garners a lot of local media attention

Troy would be up there as well, but it's been so long since we have played each other in all sports. And they probably will never schedule us in football.
For JSU, troy state clearly would've been No. 1, but they ran away all those years ago to avoid playing us and UNA.
Closely behind the trojans, who don't count anymore, are UNA and UTC, in a neck-and-neck battle for the 2 spot. UTC may actually have the lead, based on recent history, but UNA is a huge historical rival, so don't count them out now that we're playing again.
KSU is too new to D-I to be in that same class, but they're off to a rousing start. After their two-straight wins over us in football, they're definitely coming on strong.
EKU and JSU are too far apart to have anything near that kind of fan rivalry, but we've been kindred spirits of sorts in the OVC: geographical outliers cut off (permanently?) from our biggest historical rival.
While neither of us considers this a high-end rivalry, kinship does breed a certain amount of hatred (the good kind), so no list of Gamecock rivals would be complete without the Colonels.

You could kinda tell during this years football game, the players are in it as a rivalry. There was some heat on the field. It's not going to take long for it to ignite now that we are in the same conference.
As for UNA, I also think things between UNA and UCA may build, other than JSU we have the most history with them from the Gulf South Conference days, and it was a bit of a rivalry then, but to be fair, it seemed like those days in that conference was packed with rivalries, especially for UNA.

RE: RIVALRIES
I think all the football schools will develop into some kind of rival with each other. It's not like the schools dont have a lot in common, they are fairly close, and having a small football league that will be honestly probably the best in the south for football at this level, tensions will be high just to win the conference.... seems to me that there is no choice but everyone being a rival.

I'm really looking forward to the Colonels making an annual trip here to Louisville where I live. I predict my Bellarmine alum father and I will venture out to Freedom Hall for next year's contest. I'll probably try to make it to Richmond for the return engagement as well.

UCA got really good in the GSC right before they reclassified. But, yes, Valdosta State and Delta State were also huge rivals for years. They were dubbed the "Big 3" with UNA in the early 2000s when all three schools competed for the semifinals/title game basically every year of the D2 Playoffs for over a decade.
But my first year at UNA we had both JSU and Troy on the schedule for the final season.

Don't forget about West Georgia getting pretty heated, and West Alabama.

RE: RIVALRIES
I can see UNA conference rivals turning into, in order
All sports including football
JSU
UCA
KSU
EKU
non football
JSU
Lipscomb
UCA
Liberty
I also think a Florida school may be developing, but I dont want to jinx it, so I wont say the name.

RE: RIVALRIES
So in the OVC the EKU and Morehead State roadtrip was considered death valley. Does the ASUN have a death valley?

I’ve bought 20 tix so far for students driving up from Liberty for the game, my family coming in from Missouri, and my family already in Louisville.
