This would actually be a interesting hire to help mentor Penny and our staff. The guy knows what he is doing. Not sure if we could lure him out of retirement. Exactly the type tempo coach for the game Penny wants to play.
Intriguing. Love it!

79 years old, retired for years, hasn't coached in college in forever or the NBA in a decade. Don't think so.

El Bannedito got banned for that statement? I've seen posters here saying much worse things and they're fine. Has to be an alias of a previous banned member.

I think we've established that Doc Holliday gets his info from the AD's department. Having said that, interesting name:

Source tells me former NBA player and head coach Sam Mitchell is leading candidate to join Penny's staff as an assistant. Penny still considering 3 other coaches but Mitchell is leading candidate.

Has been a coach for 15+ years and was a former NBA coach of the year. His last NBA stint didn't go well but the coaching experience will be valuable.

People seem to think age was a reason for Tubby's inept-itude (new fun word eh?). I don't care what age our coaches are as long as they have the ability and willingness to TCB. IF, we don't need this Assistant on the recruiting trail, Westhead (and many others) could be the perfect type guy to fill the position. Finding a guy who is a winner as an NCAA HC that we want to hire as Assistant will naturally have 1 downfall. No longer in prime, couldn't recruit well, etc. Fired for some reason. No one takes an Assistant role after being a successful HC without an issue, history of trouble. If you're looking for someone prefect in every way, we (Bowen) just told that guy to piss off. And you could say his downside is the appearance of being "dirty." Everyone else has AT LEAST 1 downside ESP when you're criteria includes success at a higher level.

Not age, laziness. Absolute, total, laziness was the problem with the Tub, followed closely by nepotism, hiring other people just as lazy as he is.
