But at least add the logos of a few of our choice rivals to that splash wall!
I've mentioned that before, but it always falls on deaf ears.
I'd also like a pouncing owl replica at the top of the tunnel, more than the width of the tunnel (wings curling in at the edges), that the opponents have to pass beneath on their way to the field.
Like this...
They could build a beautiful observation deck/beer garden at the front - center of the upper deck, betweenthe 40 yard lines. Finish it out with a nice canopy, ceiling fans, and landscaping. It could have its own menu. I'm pretty sure that Hambone has mentioned this before. Fans would really go for that. Install some televisions, and give it a sports bar environment. It would look great on television during each punt and kickoff. Tarp everything else around it with some nice murals. No one else has anything like that. Rice would be the first. Everyone would be so jealous.
So many great things could be done with all the space in that stadium. It's a luxury that others don't have. It's the only 'positive' of being a small private school in an NFL city, with a way too big stadium.

Not sure about whether they still have it since becoming an Astros farm, but Sugar Land Skeeters had an area like that in center field at Constellation Field. My son and I went a couple of times for Fathers' Day, and spent the afternoon out there. You can see the field, get a good TV view of the US Open golf, drink a few brews, and really enjoy. There was a kids play area next door, and a bunch of families were out there with mom and dad in the sports bar where they could watch the kids at play. It was a really neat area, haven't been this year so don't know if they retained it with the changes they made.
Of course, being a Rice football fan the last few years could drive one to drink pretty heavily.

Yeah that would be awesome to have that gigantic Owl staring down at them as they enter the tunnel. It would be a great focal point for television cameras filming the opposition take the field.

Lol!
I hadn't thought about a nice entertainment area for the kids. Something permanent. A big, kickasss playground. Little kids get bored at games, and they ruin everything when it happens. Good idea.

Play area for kids in the upper deck while parents drink in a separate area? What could possibly go wrong?

so...do beer specials every time opponent scores: "drown your sorrows special" and give proceeds directly to Rice FB recruiting efforts...NIL, etc... if we lose big enough, our recruits "win"? At least make all the losing "productive"? But that might be too intellectually brutal....

I guess the option of putting a product on the field worth watching that draws crowds to fill those seats is off the table?
Until that time arrives, make it look like grass. We'll always have both upper decks anyway, so there should be plenty of seating no matter how great our product becomes in the future. So, 'yes'?
