I wondered the same, so its not just you. But given the choices, I don't know which is better.

I'll hold final judgement until we see the finished project and how they do the transition from horizontal to sloped, but I'm leaning to all horizontal.

But I'm really more concerned about what the product looks like on the field versus around the field.

it does fit the ethos of the program better: "take the cheapest way out."

It's less work to do it sloped.

I notice they have a fresh coat of blue paint on part of the flight deck in the background. It looks good.

I hope they tarp every inch of that endzone that doesn't have bench seating. Fans shouldn't have to sit on concrete steps, nor see them.

Lots of people like sitting there... at least young people who can get up and down like that... and people whose kids want to move around. i don't terribly disagree with you, but I'd prefer that we 'bury' the concrete and plant grass (or put down turf) and let people picnic there.

Ideally, all that concrete would be removed, and grass planted. That's what I'd like to see if the money were available. It may not be possible to 'bury' the concrete. I wonder if the dirt and grass would stay in place on top of concrete, especially when it rains. Maybe it would. That would definitely be the cheapest solution. Agree that it would make a great picnic and play area.

But my bet is that we'll never have the money to do either, so I hope they at least tarp it with artificial grass.

I asked the lead bricklayer and he told me that he asked his boss or the Rice person running the project and they told him to follow the top of the wall.

I'm ready to see what they do with the tarps in the endzone.

Waiting is...
They're pretty easy to do, and they tend to fade in sunlight, so they are likely near the end of the list of things to be done before the season starts.

Still lacking the cap(stone)s and finish around many of the gates.

This gate is pretty neat.

This is something like what I had in mind for a large owl in the tunnel, for the visiting team to face as they enter the field.
I didn't mean for it to be something we would see.

The new brick wall is really neat looking. It's giving me PNC Park vibes (the Pittsburgh Pirates ballpark). Although plastering ads all over it cheapen the look quite a bit. Hopefully we don't overdo it in that respect.

Count me in.

Count me in as well, although I thought it would be 'perched' on the entrance to the tunnel, with the 'R' Room in the background.

If Parliament came together and raised the money for this, it would be an impactful addition to the stadium. As y'all know, I'm ready to meet and hash it all out. I don't have much to donate, but I'll give what I can.

A big owl. Nothing small.
