If Marshall never moved up we would have done what NDSU is doing right now but the school and admin had higher asperations than that. Everyone knew in 1988 when Joan C Edwards stadium was approved that we would be IA someday, that happened to be after the 1996 season.
Like I said enjoy bringing in more Morgan State's and sharing a conference with the likes of Rhode Island, Maine and Richmond. None of which has a football tradition. My guess is Stony Brook or Albany try and move to IA before JMU does.
And just incase you wanna try and take a jab at academics:
Marshall: R2 National University: Classification
James Madison: Masters College and Universies, Reginal University: Classification
This post actually started pretty good but quickly went downhill before dropping off a cliff. A summary of my thoughts as I read....
- I have no response to the playoff streak, playoff record, and rankings, that does look nice laid out.
- Conference titles, okay but eh. Heisman finalist, certainly cool but I couldn't even name last years heisman finalist so eh.
- Wait, Sammy Baugh, which one is that again? Oh the one that was won recently by hugely successful NFL players such as Matt Johnson, Brandon Doughty, Colby Cameron! Don't remember then? That might be because none ever made an NFL active roster.
- Outstanding receiver award? Oh yea that is obviously Moss. Wait, Pennington and Moss, is he throwing out a bunch of different awards as if Marshall has a legacy of producing a bunch of great players when it was really just two players from two years?
- Nagurski? WTF is that? Lets wikipedia that one, wait what, no Marshall player is listed as a winner, what is he smoking?
- 27 draft picks. I wonder if that is right, I mean JMU has 7 NFL players on active roster right now and the google machine tells me that Marshall only has 6.
- Yada Yada Yada.... wait did this dude just try to compare Marshall and JMU academics? WHAT IS HE SMOKING?!
