Not sure if it's too late but I want to revise my predictions to have Wichita in 12th. Just realized they have the most Applebee's per capita of any city in the USA and thought that warranted a basement finish. That awkward Lithestonian center doesn't help their case much either.

Sure. But elite recruits who are bigs have a much higher chance of being not huge deals in college.

Just look at last years top 10 recruits and how the PF and C prospects faired. Nassir little saw his stock drop, ej Montgomery and Bassey were underwelming, same goes for bol bol.

Zion was the only big who lived up to his potential in college. Wiseman is not Zion

I think his long term stock is absolutely fine. But how much he impacts college remains to be seen. I personally trust Anthony Edwards & cole Anthony to be much bigger impact guys in college

Seems like you're painting the picture you want to see (not necessarily reality). And Bol Bol averaged 21 and 10 on 52% 3 point shooting before he got injured. Great example. What a scrub.

Any of those players the #1 player in their class? Please tell me the last player that was ranked 1st in their class who didn't end up being pretty awesome almost immediately. The percentages aren't good for you.

Bol bol was a top 5 prospect who fell to 44 in the draft.

His lateral movement on defense was exposed in his short time in college.

I’m not saying wiseman won’t be great. I’m saying how much he impacts college in one year remains to be seen. Precious being a huge impact is even less likely.

Given your comments, guess Memphis players walk on water.

Achiuwa is good in the open court, but has no low-post game. Maybe he’ll be taught one at Memphis.

His perimeter shooting and driving in half-court sets is spotty. Good interior defender, but has difficulty defending drives from to the hoop. With defenses concentrating on other Memphis players, and Memphis running, he should do ok.has tremendous upside but nowhere near where he needs to be to go in first round of NBA draft.

Right now, Achiuwa is projected to be a lottery pick, so not sure how your scouting report is legit.

Make-up your own mind after you see Achiuwa play. Then tell whether my evaluation is correct.

I also like Baugh more than Ellis. Quinones big-time 3-point shooter.

Precious was recruited by the elites of college basketball and is coveted by NBA personnel. I’ll go with their judgement.

Very good chance Wiseman ends up being a lottery pick after 1 year in college. All mock drafts I've seen have him going in the top 5. I've seen a least a couple having him as the first pick. Good comparisons though.

Lolol your missing the point. Bigs develop slower.

He will be drafted higher than jarron Cumberland that’s for damn sure, but how many game winners will he hit? How many points will score? How many times will he alone be a one man comeback when your team needs him? Who is the go to guy for Houston when they need too ok score?

Stuff like that Is why I would personally take one senior year of jarron Cumberland (or Corey Davis if it was last year) over 1 single year of an elite freshmen big.

Wiseman isn’t going to hit his peak for a few years. Jarron is probably as good as he will ever be and in this game of college basketball, experience matters

to add a few points....almost all the bigs you named that failed/slow starts were true bigs .. also i dont think bassey was bad, he just played for a not good mid major

nassir, bassey and montgomery are post bigs

bol, wiseman and precious (also zion) are point bigs...precious will be called a power forward but his game is completely a guard...
wiseman will try to be a current guard-esque anthony davis type big (not his college version)...& if precious makes it to the NBA he will likely play the 3 (the aspiration for him is likely a ben simmons-esque player)

traditional bigs tend to be slow on the uptake, but point bigs tend to be successful day one (obviously with some outliers)

watch any highlights of precious...you wont see a single post up ...he loves to meet player at the perimeter and drive on them... guards are too small to guard him....bigs are too slow to stay with him..
the 2 major issues/question marks with precious.

1) 3pt% - he is unguard-able if you defend in the perimeter..but if he cant shot a respect-able enough 3pt% you can just leave him open and put a big on him to guard him only when he gets in the post (where his posts move by themselves arent that impressive)

2) he has only ever played on insanely stacked teams (his high school/aau teams are arguably more stacked than memphis but vs high school teams)..most games he played he didnt have to try..the few he had to 3 other future lottery pick teammates where there so he didnt have to bring it every play....he's never been in a situation where he's needed to put up 30 or the team loses...
he hasnt been conditioned to bring it every play, something penny himself has noted and trying to fix before the season

(monte verde, his HS, had 7 espn 100 recruits, by far most in the nation...including likely 2021 #1 draft pick Cade Cunningham)

I've seen Achiuwa play maybe half a dozen times. Looks like a stud recruit to me, and a possible lottery pick. He was the best player on the floor for much of the McD AA game. We just didn't get to see him in the Bahamas.

Baugh has looked good early, but so has Boogie.

Honestly, none of us know how the team will do this season, or how individuals will turn out, but I don't see how you can be critical of any of them at this juncture, other than to say we'll be extremely young and prone to a learning curve.

RE: Your Predictions AAC Basketball
Memphis player’s have tremendous talent, but most players, even very good one’s, have some weakness that can be explored to lessen their effectiveness.

One problems is that a good many coaches don’t sometimes think in these terms, and instead play generic defenses. It’s my view, it’s probably best to try to try to limit or shut-down two or three of Memphis top scorers.,

Quinones is a tremendous catch and shoot player. Have to be in his face at all times. Can’t leave him unguarded to help out on others. If he’s defended that way, can he shoot off his dribble? Can he get to the hoop in half-court sets? He’s not very quick.

Is Ellis better shooting or driving to the hoop? Will he have an offensive weakness in college that wasn’t exposed in high school? Seems to turnover prone.

Posters says Baugh not a good three-point shooter. Also, makes steals, but appears to be turnover prone.

Pesik, your analysis of Achiuwa is similar to how I view him. He will need to develop a consistent outside shot, and show that he can shoot well off the dribble. He also needs to develop an outside shot. He’s tremendously athletic but has a way to go before we can say he will be a good NBA player or is worthy of being drafted in the NBA lottery.

And we still need to see how Memphis players play together, although I sense they will mesh very well given how athletic their recruits are.

Suspect Baugh has no offensive weaknesses. Best defense may be to just try to make him give up the ball, and try to deny him from getting the ball back. Easier said than done.

All players, even those playing for Temple, have weaknesses. For example, Baugh is not a good three point shooter at this point.

I hope the Tigers mesh by March. Meanwhile, I predict the Tigers to finish 4th in the AAC.

But still a young team where most haven’t played a college game, and some of their recruits are not as good as advertised. Do like Baugh and Quinones a lot. And looking forward to seeing Wiseman and Jeffers play. Just added Stokes another big transfer from Florida. He’s eligible to play this season.

Show some guts and join me in picking the Tigers last because some of our recruits aren't as good as advertised. You know you want to.

Who is not as good as advertised? Wiseman? No. Achiuwa? No. Jeffries? No. Quinones? No. Ellis? No. Baugh? Hell no. Dandridge? Who knows? He's injured.

Ignorant is as ignorant does.

See, this is what I mean. Your insights are wasted on this board, you should be charging for all of this. Now come on, pick the overrated Tigers last. Show some guts. Join me in predicting disaster for Memphis.

Memphis will be in the top tier right there with Cincinnati and Temple.

2/3rds of this makes sense.

sampson isnt one to bend to talent or stars....look at last years team, he openly admitted the most talented players on the team were nate and dejon...neither were starters...he put old reliables ahead of them

he doesn start at the 4 sampson has made it clear he has faith in fabian...

if he can shoot good enough, he will start at the 3....sampson is also a developer...precious would be the tallest player on Houston's roster...if Sampson developed his post presence (which is not great right now) he would start at the 5

Precious is on a whole different talent level than anyone on Houston's roster. He is presently projected a lottery pick or high first round for the best league in the entire world.

Would anyone on Memphis' roster start for Houston?
