RE: Your Predictions AAC Basketball
I see things differently. First, in spite of injuries along the way, Temple has averaged 20-win over the last five years. Not bad. Secondly, I do agree that Temple’s talent level very good. Do think some losses in the past do to Dunphy favoring veteran players over better younger players. Thus happened two years ago when NPL and Moorman didn’t play as much as they should have. Do think Temple should have run more. That will happen with McKie at the helm.
Temple is loaded with talent. Fully expect 6’11 Justyn Hamilton and Moorman to explode this year, and for Rose to improve both his 2 and 3-point shooting. NPL is a demon on both sides of the ball. Scott is a scorer and McKie has turned him into a good defender. D. Moore has improved on both sides of the ball. Alani Moore was a deadly three point shooter in conference play last Season.,Freshman D.Dunn is a solid two way player who will play like an upper class man. Freshman JPL , Nate’s brother is a lock-down defender.
As for rebounding, although Temple was out rebounded in conference play, Like most teams playing against UCF and Tacko Fall, such exaggerated their rebounding deficit. Being down an average of three offensive rebounds per conference game is not good. Part of the problem was caused by bigs straying too far from the hoop last season. That’s not likely happen this year, as it hasn’t occurs in summer scrimmages.
A problem has been Rose not rebounding as he’s capable of. Rebounding has not effected but one of Temples five losses in conference play.in fact, Temple was far out-rebounded playing UConn on the offensive board by 11, but still won the game by 18 points., It’s my view that rebounding is not as big a factor in the outcome of games,as winning the turnover battle, and that’s something Temple is near the top of the chart in the nation.
Temple’s main problem offensively is, as someone has pointed out, relying almost entirely on Alston, Rose, and NPL to score, and not telling them not to shoot as much when one is clearly off, and to instead, get other players who can shoot the ball more involved when such is happening.
