I’ve always maintained that rebounding does not effect the outcome of games as much as other statistical categories such as a teams turnover margin over it’s opponents.
My point is supported by that fact that Temple in conference play the season before last virtually tied with it’s opponents, yer finished with an 8-10 conference record. This past season Temple finished with an 13-5 conference record reven though they were out-rebounded on the offensive rebounds. Temple has fewer offensive rebounds because the took fewer field attempta, and instead went to the foul-line more than the year before, and scored more points at the foul-line than opponents did. i dont see a ceiling for your team that high
Conference stats also show that D.Moore and Hamilton, Temple’s two Centers this upcoming season performed better that Ern A. Temple’s Center last season. As such, both should have played more than they did.
Goven that Temple finished third in scoring in the conference, and has it’s entire roster back but for Alston that they should be among the AAC’s best teams, especially since Houston, the conferences second leader in scoring has lost it’s top three scorers. The only argument left that has been made here is two-fold. One that Alston’s replacement James Scott is not as good as Shizz Alston. That has been debunked by Scott’s performances in team scrimmages this past year.
Should also be noted that Temple split with Houston,UCF, Memphis, and WSU, last season, and beat USF twice in overtime games.
The other argument is that Coach McKie is a new coach. Theat argument will quickly fade when Temple starts the season.
1) justin if you are reading this, i would like to point out how we have come full circle..it wasnt but a year ago, we were having debates about how poor galens offense was...now according to miggy in several posts ..galen is a top level scorer that will be hard for houston to replace
2) miggy i just hope you dont disapppear if temple flops...we have a lot preseason hypers here who always disappear when they arent good..
i think a major disconnect between you and literally everyone else here is that no one thought temple was that good last year..
you see returning a lot as top echelon..we see returning alot, we see another slightly above avaerage tam...your players werent 1st year players or freshmen, so there isnt a reason to think theyll be a major jump
also you cant debunk something with hearsay, there is no proof of this scrimmage..and even if it was true, you have to question the circumstances of the scrimmage ..if you can post a link to anything related to this scrimmage that would be nice, maybe an interview to a coach talking about it....we have 3 box scores of scott and all signs point to you overhyping him
Pesik, you and others had every right to think that Temple was not going to have a better team this past season as they were 8-10 in conference play, and were not going to follow-up this season post a 13-5, and given that was losing to starters to graduation l, and signed no new recruits who played this past season.
But if had done your homework you would know the reason Temple had such a poor record did not play freshman Nate Pierre l-Louise, JP Moorman, Justyn Hamilton ( only played 27 minutes) as much as they should have. Both NPL and Moorman played very well in limited minutes, especially in conference play. Hamilton is now on NBA scouts radar. Probably not on yours. Both Hamilton and D. Moore will play more this season. Temple has a roster filled with impact players.
Moorman 42.5 percent shooting three’s in conference play) Hamilton 59 percent shooter on two’s) and D,Moore ( 64 percent shooter on two’s) will all play more this year. Both D.Moore and Hamilton put up better overall stats than Ern A., Temple’s departed Center. They will be joined by hot-shooting James Scott, and freshman Damion Dunn who can ball. This is a team to be reckoned with.
Seems like you’re not doing your homework this year regarding other teams rosters nor have looked at videos of incoming players.
I suggest you look at James Scott’s highlight. If you don’t know excellent shooting form, I suggest you consult with someone who does.
I would never question someone’s source of information unless I know it was wrong. If you want more information regarding James Scott I suggest you listen to the Temple owl podcast that has interviews twitch the HC and two of assistants. McKie raves about Scott’s offense, and asst coach Finnerty says that Scott has been bery impressive. All point out that Scott can score from anywhere on the court.
I’m saying Houston is losing the top scorers from last year. Not saying Robinson not replaceable, will say that Davis and Brooks three point scoring, shot at a high percentage, and that resulted in an average of 19 points per game is and won’t replaced this year. Houston will have to Rey more on their defense to win.
I won’t be disappearing regardless if my prediction are true or not. Have little ego invested. But don’t like being called out by someone who’s opinions not based on stats, and doesn’t do his homework.
