Also to me, true shooting percentage is really misleading especially when you consider....... usage rate.

Temple returns just 2 players who were considered significant contributors last year In kenpom. NPL & Rose, and I have zero faith in rose. They dude will zig when he should be zagging all season season. He took 150 3’s last year when he should have been taking half that. He will literally pull up from 3 when he has a wide open lane.

All the players who have a 55% or higher true shooting percentage all have a usage rate of under 16, they will fall when their usage rate climbs.

RE: Your Predictions AAC Basketball
I see things differently. First, in spite of injuries along the way, Temple has averaged 20-win over the last five years. Not bad. Secondly, I do agree that Temple’s talent level very good. Do think some losses in the past do to Dunphy favoring veteran players over better younger players. Thus happened two years ago when NPL and Moorman didn’t play as much as they should have. Do think Temple should have run more. That will happen with McKie at the helm.

Temple is loaded with talent. Fully expect 6’11 Justyn Hamilton and Moorman to explode this year, and for Rose to improve both his 2 and 3-point shooting. NPL is a demon on both sides of the ball. Scott is a scorer and McKie has turned him into a good defender. D. Moore has improved on both sides of the ball. Alani Moore was a deadly three point shooter in conference play last Season.,Freshman D.Dunn is a solid two way player who will play like an upper class man. Freshman JPL , Nate’s brother is a lock-down defender.

As for rebounding, although Temple was out rebounded in conference play, Like most teams playing against UCF and Tacko Fall, such exaggerated their rebounding deficit. Being down an average of three offensive rebounds per conference game is not good. Part of the problem was caused by bigs straying too far from the hoop last season. That’s not likely happen this year, as it hasn’t occurs in summer scrimmages.

A problem has been Rose not rebounding as he’s capable of. Rebounding has not effected but one of Temples five losses in conference play.in fact, Temple was far out-rebounded playing UConn on the offensive board by 11, but still won the game by 18 points., It’s my view that rebounding is not as big a factor in the outcome of games,as winning the turnover battle, and that’s something Temple is near the top of the chart in the nation.

Temple’s main problem offensively is, as someone has pointed out, relying almost entirely on Alston, Rose, and NPL to score, and not telling them not to shoot as much when one is clearly off, and to instead, get other players who can shoot the ball more involved when such is happening.

Rebounding and defense matters. UC walked into Temple’s gym and shot 3-18 from 3 and missed 12 free throws and still won because they absolutely destroyed temple on the glass 46-22. Temple turned the ball over just 8 times and yet still lose this game despite UC’s poor 3 point shooting, 10 TO, and allowing temple to make 9 3’s..

UC’s culture won those games. Temple literally has no culture, no identity, nothing to fall back on when **** is going wrong.

RE: Your Predictions AAC Basketball
The Cincinnati game is the one game Temple lost because of being out-rebounded. Cincinnati only won by a few points. Temple was winning by a large margin before the wheels fell off. That sometimes happens off the course of a season.

In Temple’s 10 losses for the season, Temple had more offensive rebounds than opponents did in 8 of those games, only lost 2 of those games when they were out-rebounded on the offensive end, and they were leading in both these games with five minutes to go. That’s why I say that an offensive rebounding deficit is not a big factor in the outcome of a game as other statistical categories are.,

Also, believe that some of Temple’s best shooters were off and should have let others shoot. A point I made in my post. I’ve heard the argument of Temple fadilng at the end of games, but I don’t exactly buy it especially since Temple won all four of their overtime games played this year.

Given how poorly Cincinnati performed shooting three’s, at the foul line, and incurring a large turnover deficit playing Temple you shouldn’t fell so confident with the same players returning. Thankfully, Cincinnati hhas improves it’s roster.

RE: Your Predictions AAC Basketball
In my post, I pointed out that Temple only lost one game because of being out-rebounded, and that was the Cincinnati game when Cinn had 11 more offensive rebounds than Temple did. But, even so Cinn only won by four-points.

Temple demonstrated they were a far better team shooting the ball.

But you should hardly feel good about how the Cincy players returning, for as you pointed out, they shot very poorly on three’s and at the foul-line playing Temple. More importantly, Cincy trailed by 10 points at the half and were trailing with 5 minutes remaining in the game.
Temple demonstrated they could stop the three-ball as they did all year, and that Temple was a better three-point shooting team than Cincy is. If Cincy was a far better team than Temple they should not have trailed to the end of the game.

Cincy still needs to improve it’s three-point shooting and foul-shooting. Temple should be to correct it’s rebounding, by not having bigs stray so far from the rim.

In the Cincy game, NPL shot only 3-12 for the game, and if he not shot so much and let others shoot, the outcome may have resulted in a different outcome.

But, Cincy has some Cumberland and Harvey coming in that will help their three o point shooting, but lost Jennifer a good three point shooter. Brings in Vogt to replace Brooks rebounding. Not impressed with transfer McNeal as PG.

As for a lostsr’s comment on Rose, he’s greatly improved his three-point shooting, even more so since conference play when he shot three’s over 34 percent.

Don’t agree that a player’s Total Shooting Percentage will drop considerably when then they take a few more shots. in fact, some of Temple’s players improved their Total Shooting Percentage, by taking more shots than they did the year before in conference play.

Not saying that all but can understand why you that impression.

Just pointing out that one needs to start the process of evaluating teams is to look at them offensive weapons each team is returning. Also, should consider the defensive skills of players returning to each team. Next is to look at incoming players. We’ll learn about them from
videos and when the season begins. Also, category stats from last season are helpful as well.

I just wanted to start a more deeper dive into each team. My first impression was that Memphis, Cincy, Temple, and UConn sre the ACC’s best teams. Won’t settle on a top four tier till after final rostsr’s are set some non-conference games are played.

Learn the rools here noob: You can't diss WSU hoops without equal time to Memphis.

Memphis has revamped it’s roster with a high-quality incoming freshman class whose scrimmages will be more competitive than most teams they will compete against. But still a young team where most haven’t played a college game, and some of their recruits are not as good as advertised. Do like Baugh and Quinones a lot. And looking forward to seeing Wiseman and Jeffers play. Just added Stokes another big transfer from Florida. He’s eligible to play this season.

Show some guts and join me in picking the Tigers last because some of our recruits aren't as good as advertised. You know you want to.

Who is not as good as advertised? Wiseman? No. Achiuwa? No. Jeffries? No. Quinones? No. Ellis? No. Baugh? Hell no. Dandridge? Who knows? He's injured.

Ignorant is as ignorant does.

I’ll be honest, I think Keith Williams could be every bit of productive as Rose if he had the same usage rate.

Rose is not a good player. He is all potential but most of it wasted, if he is the best player, I don’t think it takes temple all that far.

His usage rate was 27% and finished with an embarrassingly low 92.4 offensive rating. If he moves his usage up to 31% like Cumberland last year, then I’d imagine it drops into the high 80’s, which would be one of the worst high usage players in the country.

I personally think our 2nd best player is better than Rose. I think Keith’s JR & SR season will show that.

I just don’t believe in a team who’s best player is Q. Rose

Given your comments, guess Memphis players walk on water.

Achiuwa is good in the open court, but has no low-post game. Maybe he’ll be taught one at Memphis.

His perimeter shooting and driving in half-court sets is spotty. Good interior defender, but has difficulty defending drives to the hoop. With defenses concentrating on other players, and Memphis running, he’ll score a lot in transition offense. Has tremendous upside but nowhere near where he needs to be to go in first round of NBA draft.

Fans of AAC schools would be ecstatic about class like the one landed by the Tigers. The honest ones admit it while others desperately seek real or imagined flaws to help them cope.

I really like the Memphis class and they alone helped shine some real national light on the league. May help pother teams recruit to the league as well.

And id absolutely take this class at UC.

But all that said, I do think winning with high level one and done Freshman is incredibly hard. I think the best teams have a good mix of seniors & elite freshman.

I think Memphis will be really good. Top 3 easily and they by far have the highest ceiling. But I Also think it’s ok to take a wait & see approach, considering it’s a 2nd year coach in a league full of very good proven coaches.

I’d still take jarron Cumberland over any player in the league tho. I think jarron will have a better season and impact on winning than any one player on Memphis.

Anyone who says that ain't jealous of Memphis' class is a liarface. We did pretty good this year (#18 overall), but the Tiger's class is on another level. I'd also take Wiseman over any incoming AAC recruit or returning AAC player. #1 recruits are #1 recruits.

Sure. But elite recruits who are bigs have a much higher chance of being not huge deals in college.

Just look at last years top 10 recruits and how the PF and C prospects faired. Nassir little saw his stock drop, ej Montgomery and Bassey were underwelming, same goes for bol bol.

Zion was the only big who lived up to his potential in college. Wiseman is not Zion

I think his long term stock is absolutely fine. But how much he impacts college remains to be seen. I personally trust Anthony Edwards & cole Anthony to be much bigger impact guys in college

Well, Wiseman is not going to have to carry the whole load at Memphis, like Edwards will at Georgia. I doubt Wiseman is even our leading scorer. His value is more on defense and rebounding, and on giving our perimeter shooters open shots.

Given your comments, guess Memphis players walk on water.

Achiuwa is good in the open court, but has no low-post game. Maybe he’ll be taught one at Memphis.

His perimeter shooting and driving in half-court sets is spotty. Good interior defender, but has difficulty defending drives from to the hoop. With defenses concentrating on other Memphis players, and Memphis running, he should do ok.has tremendous upside but nowhere near where he needs to be to go in first round of NBA draft.

Right now, Achiuwa is projected to be a lottery pick, so not sure how your scouting report is legit.

Seems like you're painting the picture you want to see (not necessarily reality). And Bol Bol averaged 21 and 10 on 52% 3 point shooting before he got injured. Great example. What a scrub.

Any of those players the #1 player in their class? Please tell me the last player that was ranked 1st in their class who didn't end up being pretty awesome almost immediately. The percentages aren't good for you.
