I was pleasantly surprised by our defense, its been a long time since they were able to get stops on 3rd downs. Especially on 3rd & short. I really like this staff overall, perhaps Louisville best?

Puma played great on his first 2 drives but then returned to his 2018 form. ND defense was a factor there for sure but Puma doesn’t look like a QB that got an offer from Bama. I think he will be our biggest ? this season. Hopefully Chubba will be ready as a true freshman.

There was a complete change in attitude from this team over last year. There was discipline & no one gave up. They are thin in depth but they played hard. The RBs & LBs are probably our 2 best positions, as expected. There are reasons to be optimistic about the future. The schedule is tough this year playing in a tough Atlantic & getting Miami & Virginia from the Coastal so becoming bowl eligible will be difficult.

I was laughing after the back to back fumbles. Then... that third one... cue the Benny Hill song !!!

I was at the UofL game. It’s been a long time since the stadium rocked like that. I don’t usually celebrate moral victories but last night was that. I have said I believe we can win 6 games this year. After watching our game last night and the rest of The ACC over the long weekend I saw nothing that changed my mind.

Thankfully this looks like a down year for The ACC. That may allow us to compete in a game or two this season that on paper might appear that we don’t have a chance.

I was there as well Jim. Cardinal Stadium was definitely more energized compared to last season. I'm a bit hesitant to say Louisville can win 6 games this year because it's tough to know how ND compares to the ACC this year (sans Clemson). On paper the Irish are the second best team we'll see this year, and if that turns out to be true and the Cards have some expected improvement over the year, it could happen.

I wasn't that impressed with ND however, considering they were Top 10. To me the question is how much of that was an improved opponent vs. the Irish taking a potential step back from last year. Either way I was generally happy with the performance after what we witnessed last season.

That, and the subsequent ND touchdown, seemed to take a little of the starch out of the Cards. If they come out for the second half tied, that might have made a difference in the outcome. They didn't quit, like they clearly did the second half of last season, but who knows what might have happened.

Louisville played very well, much better than last year.

After that first drive, ND's offense looked ragged in the passing game and in the short yardage run game in the first half.

The defense looked out of sync in the first quarter as well.

I did like the adjustments ND made as the game wore on, with the offense scoring 21 points after the 14-14 tie, and with the defense holding Louisville to 3 points the last 50 minutes of the game.

Even with the typical opening game and road game Brian Kelly blues, ND was favored by 19 and won by 18, so not too bad of an outcome.

Hats off to Louisville and good luck the rest of the season.

Ian Book played a great game, especially the 2nd half. Every time we needed a big stop he would get the 1st down with his feet or a clutch throw.

Thats pretty dogon good. Had no idea that ND had performed so well. Only 3 teams I can think of off the top of my head who has a similar or better record, Clemson, Bama and UCF

The four losses are to Clemson, Georgia, Stanford and Miami.

ND also went 10-3 in 2015. It makes 2016 almost inexplicable.
