Agree with Geef. He was being a d-bag about it-- just look at the picture. This is your former team; while it is perfectly fine to light 'em up if this is a tradition but just some common decency states you should be low key about it.

Exactly this. No matter the hard feelings he might harbor about losing his job, he coached and/or recruited nearly every kid on that team. Just make a statement about how hard it was to coach against kids you care about, and you personally wish them all the best. He came across as tone deaf at best, and a complete coattail-riding d-bag at worst.

Even with the modest success Butch enjoyed at UC and despite his off-putting clichés, he couldn't wait to get out of Cincy. You think Purdue and Colorado are happier that he 'slipped away"? ECU would be crazy to hire Butch. One 6-6 season and he'd been eyeballin' the prettier girl down the street.

I dunno, he might be a decent hire for them. He's had success as a head coach, especially at the G5 level although it's fair to ask what has he done when he wasn't riding in on BK's coattails. And while I have no doubt he'd be eyeballin' the pretty girls after his first whiff of success, I don't think they'd be eyeballin' him back. At least not until he stayed there long enough and successfully enough to truly prove himself again and to maybe advertise that's he learned and changed since UT. And frankly that's about all ECU (or really any of us) could ask for in a HC. Every job is a potential stepping stone to a better job ($$$) somewhere else.

It's a lot easier these days to be a hotshot newcomer when everybody is looking for the next big thing. Once you fail, you're a retread and that's often a harder sell to the fans and donors even if it's not completely fair.

Its alright to take the picture, he is employed by them...but it is low class to put it on his twitter page. He recruited those kids, he failed those kids now he is rubbing it in their face?
