The main concern is whether Wichita can maintain success if/when Marshall leaves.
Dour they become another SIU or Bradley?

Yes, the Koch Brothers. They are worth about 36 times more than Fred Smith.

RE: Wichita State
Welcome Shockers.
For the past 6 years, Wichita State has been ranked higher than any of the other current AAC members on Ken Pomeroy's rankings, and no worse than third best on the RPI. This is a good thing. A rising tide lifts all ships.
Welcome Wichita State!

36 times? So if Marshall leaves his multiple millions they can afford another quality hire? Then another then another?

Well, looking at several recent hires where named schools threw money and didn't get their man, I think it's easy to say money isn't what it's all about.

RE: Wichita State
So is the MVC gonna let them stay in other sports or are they joining as full non-football members?
Edit - autocorrected MVC to MAC.

Huh?
In the context of WSU sustaining beyond Gregg people keep saying the Koch money will keep WSU relevant.

Money always talks. If the Koch Bros. are as committed and generous with WS as Fred Smith is with us, then I think they are a good addition.

I'm hip. After all these years, my phone still corrects "Pastner" to "Partner".

I don't see why WSU is doing it. They might make a bit more money, not much. They can rule the MVC and still get a higher seed if they just add to their OOC schedule. Gonzaga got a #1 seed in a terrible conference (so did the Tigers under Cal). Its a mistake for WSU. I'm sure they are looking to take the same path as Creighton did.
More money, better seeding, better exposure, better scheduling. Also, not having to win the conference tourney every year helps. Less pressure from that standpoint in multiple bid leagues.
They are past the point of having to win their conference tournament. They get bids whether they win or lose. All they have to do is beef up their sked. They will take a few lumps in the AAC. But they should do well in the AAC, at least for next year.

I'll be interested, for sure.
Most of the MVC isn't very good and the travel is pretty easy.
Hopefully, the AAC will give them two games vs. us, UConn, SMU, and Cinci.
The travel could be something for them to have to get used to.
