Looks like WSU is about to join the AAC...

Is this a good thing? My initial thought is, no.
I don't have a problem with them although it adds two more losses to our record next year.
I think adding them will help the overall perception of the AAC as a basketball league. I like it

True, but they will be quality defeats.

It can't hurt at this point

That's the spirit we need.

OR, it could just improve the losses we have been sustaining of late to +150 rpi schools to at least be "good" losses - as worse case. And who knows maybe we win some of these games. And it will for sure improve the home schedule.

And possibly attendance for that game.
Welcome aboard, Shockers.

Not if we only play them once a year... look at the positive side

point taken.
Playing better competition is always better. Win or Lose
A basketball league with Cincy, UCONN, SMU, Wichita state and (if we get our act together) Memphis is VERY, VERY solid and probably the best outside of a P5 you can get (maybe the Big East might be a bit better). 5 very solid teams/programs (UCONN can't be that bad for that much longer, but we will have to see) out of 12.

I only watched the NCAA title game due to the Zags being in it. Otherwise, I wouldn't have watched. Come tourney time, I root for AAC teams in the tourney. Hopefully out of the above 5 teams, SOMEONE gets into the Sweet 16 and hopefully 2 or more. I still remember the Great Midwest Conference one year had 3 teams in the Elite 8 (I think). I was VERY interested in the Big Dance at that time. Wichita State adds some prestige AND interest in the AAC provided that they continue to do well.

I really can't complain too much about AAC basketball. It is pretty darn good, as is football.

Truthfully, the AAC is the best, all-around conference we've ever been in.
It would mean Gregg Marshall is guaranteed to come to Memphis, which would make some on this board very happy.

Better conference schedule, better strength of schedule, will help with attendance in the forum, more tv exposure for the AAC, more tournament bids for the AAC (which equals more money for the conference/Memphis).

I just can't wait 'til I get to explain to my wife what "those hand gestures" mean...

Temple is very storied. And Tulsa has a good history as well, just a lousy coach right now. Houston has never recovered since the 80s.

Cincinnati
UConn
Memphis
Wichita State
Temple
Tulsa
Houston

On paper - SHOULD be a very good league.

Upstarts like SMU and UCF help lessen the blow to the league for the traditional good teams that are down.

The Selection committee has shown that quality losses are better than quality wins.
Sporting News early top 25:

Wichita State 9
Cincinnati 14

I might be wrong, but I don't think we had any +150 losses this year. Last year, most definitely. But I think this year our 3 worst losses were to Temple and Tulsa, and they weren't 150+.

Well our "worst" losses were the last 2 of the year, but you know what I mean.
