ncaa should stay out of politics. Can lead to slippery slope. Where is line drwn? who decides what is offensive?

Again, the issue for (all) sports in this is if we as a society get behind this idea that biology is irrelevant and instead you "are" what you identify as, then there is ripe potential for harming women's athletics as men who "identify as women" take their spots.

But I find it interesting that you find it fine that NC can protect discrimination but then get upset when other groups refuse to subject LGBT persons to that discrimination.

I thought you were a Libertarian. I would think that if the NC GOP can mandate discrimination, that others should have the right to refuse to force LGBT fans/athletes to be subjected to discrimination and humiliation to attend or participate in NCAA events.

The NCAA is a non-profit organization for athletics at universities. There is literally ZERO overlap with their mission and the political stunts they're employing. My disagreement lies 100% therein, and nowhere else (read: not political).

For the record ... I really don't give a **** what restroom someone uses. And really, it isn't an issue to begin with. Nearly everywhere has a family/onesie/changing restroom. Which is unisex. So that's a women's, a men's, and a (anything) restroom already present. Much ado about nothing.

The NCAA has a mission of ensuring that NCAA athletics are open to all without discrimination. They definately have as much interest in preserving access to events by GLBT persons as they did for other groups. This is the right decision IMHO.

What about Gay people? Should they just face humiliation to attend NCAA events in NC? Its easy for a straight cisgendered male to tell us what second class citizenship is 'good enough' for us. Can I go on AirBNB in NC and get a room in Charlotte to see the Belk Bowl? Who knows, and if I'm denied I have zero recource. I guess I just need to spend 400 bucks to stay at the Marriott while the straight guy can spend 40 for the AirBnB.

And OMG, telling Trans persons to 'just use the 'anything' (I'll read that as 'freak') restroom is humiliating. And will result in massive waits for them (as the single occupancy restrooms are usually oversubscribed).

No baseball regionals for NC teams either I suppose.

Does not apply to baseball regionals. Clemson, SC, Winthrop, Coastal, and College of Charleston all hosted regionals while the flag of the Army of Northern Virginia flew on the SC State House grounds.

It will effect bowl games and basketball tournament sites though. I do not know if the Belk Bowl is grandfathered in, but I think they'd have a pretty good legal ground to fight the NCAA over if they want to head down that path. I suspect the Belk will be left alone since it was already operating. It was much easier to ban bowls in SC because none existed. But I suspect they'll ban additional bowls (but it aint like they were planning to set one up in Raleigh, now were they?)

Also, I'd just like to state for the record, I'm 100% in support of the following repercussions for the NCAA wanting to play politics:
1) Lose non-profit status
2) Become NAIA 2.0 after the power conferences take their ball (and their money) and go home. The NCAA is already despised for its recruiting regulatory regime among the entire P5. It is an ever fatter, ever more political, ever more wasteful middle man between schools and the money they generate. The NCAA has already been dealt out of the game in big time college football. All they have to lose now is the men's basketball tournament and the NCAA is effectively bankrupt overnight.

Why would the Belk Bowl have any more standing to sue than the Greensboro Sports Authority?

Now that this is in the Spin Room

There's a simple solution...allow the elected representatives of Charlotte, Cary, Raleigh, Greensboro, Asheville and elsewhere in NC to prohibit emplyment and public accommodation discrimination in the public and private sectors

And another issue is that NC still hasn't solved the issue of a Transgendered male born in Tennessee/Utah/Kansas/Ohio/outside the USA. They can't get a new birth certificate even after surgery. So NC law requires men with P*nis' to use the ladies room at NCAA events in NC.

Basically, NC passed a law to allow for employment and public accommodations discrimination against LGBT persons (including Gays and Lesbians), and prohibiting local municipalities to mitigate that.

I'm fine with losing all tax exemptions for any private group, including the NCAA, the NFL, pretty much all Country Clubs, and other private groups (including churches). They all discriminate.

I've posted it before, bring the Port o Pot indoors. It is single occupant, has a urinal and a toilet. Line them up next to each other. Sinks out front. Totally open space. No men's or women's restrooms, no powder rooms in public and government places.

All showers for general use should be removed from the public schools.

LGBT's should have a shot at a Goverment job if they are qualified.

I hate what this does to State's rights.

It should be as illegal to fire someone for being Gay as it is to fire them for being Baptist. It should be as illegal to refuse services to someone for being Gay as it is for refusing services to someone for being evangelical.

Public funds should not support employment that is not open to LGBT persons.

---

If NC wants to discriminate, then it shouldn't whine when they face consequences for that discrimination.

Tom, just an observation on this last post of yours....."Baptist" and "evangelicals" speak to beliefs. Being LGBT speaks to sexuality. Those are separate issues.
I would think that sexuality is as personal as religious beliefs. They both need to be protected. Equally.

Hey pal -- screw your adherence to the 10th Amendment and federalism. The NCAA has come to solve the two most pressing issues of our time -- the confederate flag and where trannies take a dump. And BY GOD solve it they will!

Uh, how about where I can stay, and consequently how much I have to pay to attend NCAA events?

But it is. It is about Goverment/Public bathrooms. Government hiring.

Bathrooms are just the symbol.

And they already are. Every sporting venue I've ever seen or been to -- right down to tiny minor league stadiums -- has a men's, women's, and anything restroom. And you assume the law is actually being followed. You know it's illegal to smoke pot in public in Seattle. Now go walk around Seattle. It's illegal to do faster than than 70 on the Interstate. Now go stand near the interstate with a radar gun. And actually KNOWING transsexuals in NC, I can tell you without reservation that they went to the bathroom of their current gender before this bill passed ... and they keep going to that very same bathroom afterwards. One told me should proudly considered herself the Rosa Parks of chics with d***s.

First and foremost ... please stop polluting the English language with the use of cisgendered. I know this will be hard for a liberal but ... stop destroying the language to further your agenda of creating an emotionless rubber room where no one -- no matter how f'n retarded they are -- feels offended.

Secondly ... how did gays suddenly get looped into this? Is there some new fad for gay guys to use the women's restroom I don't know about? I'm sure the women would love the interior decorating advice and relationship chit chat ... but I don't think that's a thing.

AirBNB is a business transaction between you and a private property owner. You are at their total mercy in terms of what they deem acceptable as it is THEIR property. You have no right to dictate what terms you get to use someone else's property for. They can reject you just because they hate the car you drove up in. And that's perfectly valid. Their property, their rules. Don't like it? Leave a negative review. Drum up negative PR. If everybody agrees with you, nobody will give business to the AirBNB in question and they'll be out of all that money they could have otherwise had.

Just like voter fraud "could" happen, 10th. But it never has and never will.

Super easy solution: make all public bathrooms private with a locking door, and the sign just says "bathroom" with a picture of a toilet on it. Boom, solved. No bickering, no ideology to trip over.
