NCAA moving championship events from NC
Big news here. NCAA moving all pre-determined championship events from NC this school year, including a men's basketball sub regional in Greensboro.

Good. Can't stand it when states think they're too good to fall in line.

RE: NCAA moving championship events from NC
Looks like the Belk Bowl is not covered by that this year. But given that the NC GOP is not going to lose the state legislature this year (not making a political point, just stating a fact of how the districts are put together in the state legislature), its unlikely that this gets resolved this year.
So, who wants the Belk Bowl? Do they just park it in Columbia next year?

wonder when the NCAA will start letting men play women's sports if they identify more closely with that gender. otherwise it would be extremely hypocritical.

They already have. See Baylor Womens Basketball
But seriously though, the whole "I'm what I choose to think I am and not what my physical biology is" has real potential to harm women's athletics in the future.

You are right - who cares about fairness and equality.
And it is absolutely criminal that the KKK isn't allowed to sponsor a bowl game!

Nothing hateful about using the restroom with the gender you physically have and not what you feel you are at that moment.

One style note. If you'd like to criticize the politics behind it, please start a thread in the spin room.

This could all be settled if we all referred to everyone as an a$$hole. That's not gender sensitive. Ok throw the flag.

WOW. That's huge news.
No baseball regionals for NC teams either I suppose.
Does not apply to baseball regionals. Clemson, SC, Winthrop, Coastal, and College of Charleston all hosted regionals while the flag of the Army of Northern Virginia flew on the SC State House grounds.
It will effect bowl games and basketball tournament sites though. I do not know if the Belk Bowl is grandfathered in, but I think they'd have a pretty good legal ground to fight the NCAA over if they want to head down that path. I suspect the Belk will be left alone since it was already operating. It was much easier to ban bowls in SC because none existed. But I suspect they'll ban additional bowls (but it aint like they were planning to set one up in Raleigh, now were they?)
Look ... I really don't care about this whole bathroom non-sense. But the NCAA has NO BUSINESS whatsoever in politics. Especially when they're punishing young student athletes WHO CAN'T EVEN VOTE YET in some cases for political outcomes. It's remarkably stupid for an organization that claims to represent all of higher education. And I think most if not all of us have ample reason to despise the NCAA already. The recruiting rules micromanage everything to death. It's genuinely impossible to abide by the rules since they extend to boosters. When the rules are inevitably broken, the punishment depends on who broke them and how important they are to the cash flow of the sport at hand. They are a giant fat middle man absorbing money generated by college sports and doing remarkably little productive to show for it. The NCAA is already largely cut out of the football money. All the P5 has to do to turn the NCAA into the NAIA 2.0 is to take the men's basketball tournament money and go home. Then the NCAA is done.
They should lose their non-profit status for getting involved in politics as a starter, and we should all root and work toward dumping the NCAA as the enormous dumpster fire of wasted money and the worst of the Ivory Tower mentality that it truly is. And I don't think you have to give a flying fornication about what equipment you pee with to come to that conclusion.
