A lot of those questions can be answered by simply watching the video. We don't know what happened prior to the start of it, but we can be sure of the answers to those issues I bolded from the video alone.
What was the distance from when the LEO fired his first shot? I don't posses
I haven't heard that the suspect had the taser on body. How did suspect obtain officer taser?

RE: Another police shooting. White on black. Not good.
We don't know what really happened up to the video, But from the Video it's clear He was running away, unarmed and shot in the back and officer adjusting the body and retrieving an object to place next to it. Obvious cover up in My opinion. Bad situation for Him and the Victim.

I could understand shooting someone who is running if he just robbed a store and armed and dangerous.
Traffic stop for a busted tail light.
Wow. I guess the officer was in fear for his life.
Not really something to laugh at. Cops have been shot at, run over, etc at routine traffic stops. Not saying the cop is justified in any of this, but not something to laugh at regardless.
I'm not laughing at what actually happens on a daily basis. I'm laughing at the defense that I can already see coming.
Cops get shot all the time for pulling over drivers for a variety of reasons.

The suspect does not have the taser on his body, it was thrown to the ground at the beginning of the video. It's seen later when the officer moves it for some reason, only mentioning that because it further solidifies that it was in fact the taser we see.
As for the distance, watch the video. Obviously I can't give a specific measurement of distance down to the inch, but here is a screen shot of the frame which you hear the first gunshot.

No one is arguing that these sorts of things happen, but the facts remain it's not a particularly deadly profession. Especially when one takes deaths due to traffic accidents out of the equation.

An officer can shoot you if you run, more or less I should say.
Can they?
I always thought that cops couldn't shoot someone who was running but then I remembered the phrase " stop or i'll shoot" or is that just in the movies.
Yes, HOD is correct...and officer can shoot you if you run. However, many jurisdictions have restrictions in place that govern the use of force. Also, you need the facts of what caused the officer to use force in order to determine whether the use was consistent with the law. And lastly, he (the officer) always can make a self-defense claim.
So, until more facts are ascertained, it is difficult to definitively say one way or another whether the officer's actions were inconsistent with the law.
Well I don't know the facts of this case but I heard on the radio this morning that some official person ( take that with a grain of salt) said that he will be procecuted for murder.
Probably so, as this jurisdiction probably doesn't want to deal with the protests. The right thing to do would be to treat this officer like any other suspect in a murder investigation. You first investigate what happened and then if you believe you have enough evidence to show that the officer violated the law, you seek an indictment.
I can't believe nobody has pointed out the captain (or whatever rank) already convicted him based on his presser....
the video is damning
dropping the taser at his body, then picking it up....
it's clear cut (if I had to argue as a lawyer)....convincing the jury is the key here....shouldn't be too hard
having, said that....best guess is manslaughter with max sentence....plea agreement

Of course cops get shot at all the time. That's not what I am talking about.
I'm talking about cops who say they were in fear for their life when the victim they shot was UNARMED.

I'm at work and I can't see the video. Who throws the taser on the ground (cop or suspect)? I'm assuming the cop after the shots. Did suspect drop taser while cop was pursuing him? How could a suspect obtain taser from cop?
Did both progs enter suspect?
Does cop think suspect has taser on him?
there's so many questions that can effect the outcome of the situation. For that I can't place blame on the cop yet.
Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of things that would have to go into the cops favor to justify him using deadly force. It's not a great time to be a LEO in America either. Tensions are high, public is angry.
Hopefully the public follows the laws in place to a peaceful society while having law enforcement who follow their training.

By the very nature of the job and the vigilance needed to still alive makes law enforcement dangerous. The question I have is how did the prep get the tazer? Because if there was a confrontation between the two then the idea that he was 'no longer a threat' is off the table.

What probably happened. Scott did not follow Slager's orders, resisted arrest, Slager had to chase after him, he caught up with him, there was a scuffle of sorts, looks like he tried to use the taser, Scott takes off again, Slager was mad as all hell and shot him multiple times in the back.

That is just one of many possibilities. I guess this is going to take more than a few days to get to the bottom of what really happened.
RE: Another police shooting. White on black. Not good.
The bigger question may be this ........
Is society a better place without these two individuals roaming the streets?
A news anchor with no investigating may say ...... we sent a cop who was reckless with his weapon to prison and we got a citizen who off this planet who couldn't even find the means to support his family.
Thank god neither of these two will repopulate the earth.
Is it harsh for me to think that this could be the way many in the United States feel today?

If an officer is being unjustified, I most certainly will not comply.
That is stupid fit. Cops makes mistakes, arrest the wrong people or detain them.
Follow their orders, stay in the car, get out of the car, get on the ground etc., do it.
Everything can be figured 5 minutes later or the next morning when you get out of
jail.

Why?
Because if the two fought then surrender is the only way to deescalate the threat level.

Failure to comply with an officer's orders is not punishable by death in any jurisdiction in America. And it is certainly not punishable by death without a trial. So your comment is moot.
