AAC has focused on recruiting a group of schools that includes Air Force, Boise State, Colorado State, San Diego State and UAB, sources tell CBS Sports.

Interesting, if that comes to fruition then they'll go after most (all?) of the TX schools to back-fill.
I referenced this direction in one of my previous post. Figured AAC will first go west trying to lure MWC over. Rather it happens or not will be interesting. Suppose it depends on the Mickey channel
This all makes sense, except for Boise. Unless Boise gets a sweetheart deal from the AAC and/or the L12 said a definitive no to them, why would they join. If this happens, CUSA is DONE(backfill with FCS, Jackson State Primetime?). CUSA TX teams go to the MW and Marshall, USM and maybe a couple of others go to the Belt.
Would Marshall want to leave though if the only teams that leave C-USA are the Texas 4? C-USA east+USM/UAB/LTU is still a pretty strong core.
It is always nice to be included on a list.
Boise State dipped from the Big East when it became obvious they wouldn't be a power conference going forward, and San Diego State dipped when it became obvious they would be an island in a non-power conference. Is the AAC, now missing UCF/Cincy/Houston, and with the potential to lose more schools down the line, suddenly more appealing than it was then? You gotta shoot your shot but I just don't see the appeal of AAC circa 2025 to those programs, especially if Memphis/SMU leave.
Maybe we should just learn to be a big happy CUSA family.
ESPN will either pony up the millions needed to prop up their darling AAC, or they won't.
My bet is they'll pay them, and promote the hell out of them, so we can listen to schools like Tulane brag a few more years.

Blasphemy.

That's what I was thinking as well, the center of mass in CUSA would shift east and really you wouldn't even need to replace any members, 10 is a good size for the conference.
Every legitimate rumor has UAB going to the American. May as well paint that big A on the new field UAB.

Would the conference office and leadership shift accordingly?
Don't see why mountain west schools would leave to join the AAC without Cincy, Houston or UCF. Memphis could be gone soon too

If anything the mountain west should go into Texas for some schools

If this list is true , UAB, FAU and UTSA would probably get in. I'd like to bring marshall with that group

And the same applies to the appeal of the MWC without their top 4 programs. That would leave New Mexico, Wyoming, Utah State, Nevada, UNLV, Fresno State, San Jose State and Hawaii football. I’d much rather make a hard run at New Mexico to join C-USA West if we’ve lost UAB to the AAC and a couple of eastern programs to the Sunbelt.

I'll believe it when I see it. Those MWC schools have nothing to gain. Then again, ESPN could've said that they will pay Mountain West defectors triple their current revenue while promising unlimited amounts of booze, hookers, and drugs.

UAB is on the AAC list . They are gone.

They are the only school to do everything correct in the last few years. Plus they have the history with those schools to go along with it.
Boise will go to the B12. They'll get offers from both, why would you join the one that pays less? Colorado St has a big new stadium that they can't sell enough tickets to pay for. Air Force might join, might stay independent. SDSU is too far away for the AAC to be viable, but I wouldn't be greatly surprised if the B12 took a hard look at them as a partner for Boise after UT/OU are gone..
