Shocking hiring one of the most unqualified candidates in league history hasn't worked better. Bad organizations usually have such high success rates with unconventional decisions. And before anyone blames the Burrow injury they've been losing to backup QBs and their own backup is a guy they traded up for in the middle rounds and elevated to the starting job as a rookie.

In reality this has been such a trainwreck that he won't even be able to get an OC job, which should have been the natural progression from where he was. Maybe Tubs can find him a job on his staff

Not saying it's right, but he'll get a pass because of the Burrow and Mixon injuries.

In other news, I seen where the Raiders fired Paul Guenther. Knowing the Bengals, I can see one of two things as a possibility. They force Taylor to fire Anarumo and replace him with Guenther. OR if the Bengals do surprise folks and part ways with Taylor, we will probably hear that Guenther is one of their HC candidates.
I think Guenther would be an upgrade at HC.

He was cheap, desperate for the job and would do as he was told within the parameters the folks in the big house gave him. Like damned near every other HC the past 30 years.

Would be so like the Bungles to hire a guy as HC who is unemployed from just being fired as a DC.

If Taylor is still coaching next year, I hope Sewell refuses to sign and Burrow sits out the whole year and forces a trade.

You can hope for whatever you want but both scenarios are extremely unlikely in the real world. Sewell's option would be to sit out which would make 2 seasons in a row of no football for a young player. Besides losing a year of very good salary, he also pushes out the possibility of getting a potentially MUCH larger second contract another year into the future. Beyond the 2 years of inactivity, teams may also worry that he'll just sit out again for whoever drafts him next year if he doesn't like the coach or whatever which will further drive down his draft value. So he most likely won't be drafted as high as #3 for a second time in a row and thus even his first contract will be for less money.

As far as Burrow goes, he's always spoken very highly of Taylor and seems to be on the same page as far as the offense goes. His comments imply he very much wants Taylor back next year.
Nothing will change until Mike Brown is gone and it still may not if Katie and Pete keep status quo

If they bring back Tobin they can’t make it anymore clear they could give a **** about winning

Sundays have been more enjoyable not sweating them

Zach Taylor is in way over his head but it doesn’t matter who the coach is with Mike, Katie, Pete and Tobin running things
Nothing will change even after Mike Brown is gone. The entire family shares a hereditary predisposition to fleecing taxpayers and being tight asses who believe this is just a concessions business that plays a game to entertain adults who buy jerseys and $12 bottles of Bud Light. PBJ and Pumpkin are no different. The family business model prints $$.

Buddy of mine does business with the Bengals. Worked directly with both Mike and Katie. Said Katie is a chip off the old block, except Mike has a warmer personality.

I am not a big Bengal fan.. wrote it off many years ago and really do not even watch the NFL anymore. I feel sorry for you poor guys.

Yep. Quit rooting for the team 20 years ago when I got into fantasy. It just didn't make any sense to root against players on my team so the Bengals could a win to wrap up a 4-12 year. Still follow it just because it's local and all the local sports still report on it and people talk about it. Never had a single regret.

It's a shame because there's a real passion for football in Cincinnati; and it's a league where well run middle markets have no barriers to competitive balance. I'd love to have NFL football in Cincinnati but if it's still Brown family football I hope we let them walk in 2026.

Aren't they going to have a massive estate tax bill when Mike dies? Mike got his shares in the Bengals in some pretty wild scheme that the tax authorities somehow permitted (there's a tax court opinion you can google, those interested). He's surely doing everything he can to pass it to his kids as cheaply as possible, but I imagine it will be hard to shield $2 billion in gains.
They will avoid that like he and his brother Pete largely did decades ago. They already started shifting the shares in the corporation to PBJ and Pumpkin so that after he passes it’s largely already been transferred to the next generation of robber barons.

As a UC Masters in Taxation I can tell you I was totally astounded that they won that case. I discussed it with other tax people I knew an they were all taken aback.
Even the national media doesn't believe there will be a HC vacancy in Cincinnati this off season:

Dear Lord I loved the Bengal's DB's hit on that punk Smith-Schuster. I hate Shiitsburgh. I don't know what's happened to them but they aren't the same team over the past several weeks that started out 11-0.
Go Bengals! 10-0 2Q
17-0! The Bengals are playin on fire right now. Kick their ass please!
What in the name of Boobie Clark is going on? Did we switch uniforms? I'm not even sure what I want to happen in the second half, but I honestly think I'll remember this half for the rest of my life. It was so ridiculously, unexpectedly, absurdly dominating in all aspects including coaching.

Actually it makes me nervous but if my scan is right, the Bengals can afford one win guaranteed to not move them back in the draft. Might as well make it tonight. Although if the world returns to normal and Pitt pulls this one out, I'll still console myself due to the draft impact.
