Went back and watched Justin Pierce's midseason highlights again....This kid is a big time player. As in any sport, when your game (shooting form) is fundamentally pitch perfect and you're a hard worker, the sky's the limit on your improvement. Drinking the Kool-Aid no doubt, but I really think he has the chance to be a very special player on the college level and beyond. Will be a joy to watch for four years at Kap. Can you say Jerry West, but 4 inches taller.......
Saw that Nathan Knight scored a team high 34 points a couple of nights ago
Justin Pierce had his first triple-double last night - 16 points, 12 rebs, and 10 assists.
Tony spoke highly about his two incoming recruits at yesterday's "Lunch with Tony" event at Anna's Brick Oven Restaurant. Noted that, like all incoming freshmen, they'll have to adapt to the speed and level of Division I basketball, but that both these young men had an opportunity to play. Coaches noted that both these guys were under the radar somewhat when we signed them in September. Both, he noted, are having breakout senior seasons and "we're glad we signed them then". Pierce is a top four candidate for Illinois POY
and Knight is one of the best big man prospects we've signed here and has played exceptionally well
in past weeks.

He also noted that if the coaching staff can get prospects here on a visit and get to know our players (who
show them around) we do pretty well on getting them to William and Mary.
Local Glenbard article on Justin Pierce

"2016 Justin Pierce scored 29 points and grabbed 17 rbs to secure a share of GBW's first conference title in 43 years tonight."

"William & Mary commit Justin Pierce put up 28 points and 15 rebounds as he became GBW's all-time leading scorer tonight." Glenbard West has had a basketball program for close to 100 years.

Congrats Justin.

I also read he is the leading scorer in the region and 2nd in rebounding.
His (YouTube) response to the question as to why he committed to the Tribe: "I just fell in love with everything there." Music to my ears.

I really think he'll be special. I'm not ready to put him on Marcus' level but he's nearly a lock to be very good to great...he seems like a mixture or Prewitt & Tarpey.

I also like that quote from the coaches that they feel like if they get a kid on to campus with the quality of the guys/ family atmosphere, they have a good shot at coming here.
Keeping fingers crossed, but coming of Knight and Pierce this summer akin to class that brought Prewitt and Dixon. Knight possibly being the big man we've really never had may make extra special.
Nate Knight scored 22 in a loss today. Pierce dropped 31 & 10 in a win.

From tonight's game:

Pierce's numbers are similar to Prewitt's when he was in high school. It isn't real easy to score that many points in 32 minutes. Basically about a point per minute when he's on the court.
KUA loses to Vermont Academy in their tournament this evening. Nathan Knight goes for 25 & 10.
Pierce's team won their regional championship last night. He is an intense competitior. Truly going to be a significant addition and continuing to improve. His step back jumper at the 40 sec mark in this video from last night is well beyond any high school skill set. Kid can play.

Blessed with the length of Prewitt and similar shooting skills...add to it his rebounding and passing prowess and we are looking at a major star coming here next season. He is a big time recruit for the program.
Tweet from Pierce's AAU team:

"One of the coolest parts of committing: William & Mary will be in to see 2016 W&M commit Justin Pierce play in the sectional semis tonight."
Speaks volumes for Tony and staff....Also wonder if it's anybody else in that sectional semis they are looking at...Front and center last night at VA state 5A semis with LCBird/Wakefield and Potomac/Albemarle.
