Like to see that we're going after 3 stars. Hopefully we can be successful. Does anyone happen to remember what Marcus was rated coming out of high school?
Marcus was the Gatorade POY in Maryland after his senior season...had to be three stars at least.
Man I am getting old!! I Googled Nick Sherod and was able to confirm his lineage. His grandfather, Edmund Sr. played for VCU and his dad, Edmund, Jr. played for ODU, and I am sure that I yelled at both during their playing time.

Jack Whitman was a 3 star.

You think you're getting old? I grew up playing playground summer league ball against his grandfather except I was still 3 years ahead of him at the time!!

It would be a joy to have Nick in a Tribe uniform, instead of a VCU or ODU one.....
Wow. Didn't realize EJ Sherod was his old man. We definitely played against each other and graduated the same year.
According to Vantage Hoops, Walsingham's Richard Washington now ranked #7 in class of 2016.

Richard Washington - Out of anyone in this class, Washington may have helped himself out most this season. And while his name has stayed local for the most part thus far, don't expect that to last. The 6-foot-5 wing is very skilled and can flat out score. From our seat, he's a high level sleeper.
One of our coaches could be seen at almost all of Washington's home games. Washington was a familiar figure at many Tribe home games and several former Tribe players have seen him play and rave about him.

If Tony doesn't use his remaining scholarship for this fall's incoming class---as appears more apparent with the passing of time---he'll have three scholarships available for the fall class in 2016. Washington could be one of the three as could Sherod.

There's no doubt that the class coming in 2016 is a critical one for the future of the program.
We urgently need to land a couple of major signees.
Washington, Sherod, and a solid big man would be a great class...
Eric Paschall transferring from Fordham...A10 ROY...recruited by Northeastern, George Mason, VCU before...how about us? Pecora got fired the other day, so that's why he is leaving.
How about Auburn Center Matthew Atewe 6'8" 230 lb. also transferring.
Always have to ask what are their grades?
I would think for there to be any chance of a transfer, there would have to be some sort of relationship with the coaches. Did we recruit/offer them? What's the reason for the transfer? Is it academic related? Do they want to be closer to home? Coaching change or recruited over?
A couple transfer names I saw with possible Tribe interest.

Forward Max Hoeltzel (Indiana) - possibly no interest, but Coach Holmes has many a tie in the Hoosier state.

GW guard Nick Griffin - we were a finalist for him 2 years ago. He's played sparingly & I'm not sure if the interest is still there.
"I loved my time here at Indiana and can't thank Coach Crean enough for this opportunity," Hoetzel said. "I want to find a school where I can have a bigger impact on the court. Hopefully, it will be somewhere my family can see me play more often."

California kid originally, but his mother and sisters now live in NYC. Now listed at 6'8" and appears was doomed to get buried for playing time with PF players coming in. Ironically his leaving allows IU to get back under schollie limits for next year. Would think IF any option there for us it would come more from Julian Boatner being on the staff and planting the seed for a player who may have been "helped" to leave. Kid has talent and played for Germany U18 National Team. Would balance out the 2015 class with Seacat after sitting out the year and let him get the redshirt year Crean said he "wished" he had been able to give him.

With Richard Washington recently rated #7 in Virginia after junior year, higher than Sherod and would be great to land both as a package, but Washington may be on bigger radars by now. Currently has 7 offers, including Hofstra, ECU and ODU. With no official Tribe offer yet. Just wonder if it's a wait and see if the grades materialize to meet acceptance requirements. Work some magic Billy Barnes. Washington's junior highlights:

Stan Robinson, another Indiana transfer, would be another nice pick. Had some legal troubles, but is a good kid. He is from the DC area and friends with some players here. Doubtful, but who knows.

Will be a junior in eligibility after sitting out the year. In an already greatly imbalanced class for us, that alone would rule us out. Much less with being a 4 star, top 100 recruit and the off court issues.
As a side note, with the coaching changes at Mississippi State and Tennessee, hopefully will help keep Clayton Hughes' eyes focused here.
