Maybe Sherod and Washington are friends. It would make a heck of a packaged deal. Both players are perfect fits for the type of guard play we want here.

You gotta love Washington's court vision. Impressive.

Clayton Hughes looks like he would be a big signing. It's early, but do you know what our chances look like?

As you said, it's way too early. The only thing that you can gather by the offers out there is that they very much want at least one tall shooting guard. Makes sense the way Shaver likes to platoon these similar 6'4 - 6'6 tall guards into the line up.

Didn't see as much in the earlier posted videos, but then I watched this:

With all due respect to Omar and Ollie, we have no 6'6" guard similar to that, and to think that was only as a junior. Reminds me more of Paul Rowley and an aggressive Kyle Gaillard, but talk about raising the recruitment bar!! Really felt for the poor kid who got posterized in the first dunk and is left rolling on the floor in pain.

Unless we have an amazing run and accompanying national pub the remainder of this season (which we all hope are in the cards) and get an early commitment, don't think we have a chance here. UVA and UNC showing interest.

Agreed. Our best shot with him is an early commitment. If he waits until after his senior year, bigger schools that strike out on their primary recruits will start to come into play.
Have you seen the list of 1-A schools now hot after this kid? I bet he's forgotten about Tony Shaver by now.

1-A schools "hot after" him
are not offering. Meaning there may be interest, but they are unwilling to commit to him. Also meaning he isn't currently at the top of their list. He may rise up those lists the longer he holds out, but for now, he isn't a huge 1-A priority.

Fits our style of play, fits our player character traits, love to have him, but unless we steal him in April/May, I think he's left our orbit come the core AAU period, if not already. Only thing that may keep us in there is if we have a remarkable end to this season, become the national media darling of the moment, and gain the recruiting boost from it. With high majors already offered, as soon as he gets more national exposure, everything will change. The eyeball test on his upper body physical stature may be the only thing that holds him back. UVA in to see him on 1/29/15.
Looks like Clayton Hughes has not forgotten about Tony Shaver yet. Nice to see.
"I still want to go to some campuses I haven't been to before like William and Mary."

Also, Mitch Peterson named 2nd team Ohio Div 1 All-State (top division) with alot of other top drawer talent.

I think the author edited out the william and mary part. I didn't see it anywhere.

It's there. Full paragraph.

"We were going to Ole Miss' senior night but didn't have a chance to make it," said Hughes. "I still want to go to some campuses I haven't been to before like William and Mary. I don't have any plans set yet but I am definitely going back to Mississippi State and Ole Miss. I may go to Mississippi State for their spring football game. I think I will be able to start taking official visits soon, too, and I will start looking at those possible visits."
Ah, OK. It's early...
The kid has offers from TWO SEC schools in his home state. He is going multiple times on unofficial visits to both. Seems unlikely he would pick a CAA school in Virginia that has never been to the NCAA tourney. Maybe the W&M girls will be hotter than the Ole Miss girls are.03-lmfao
You never know. He might feel more at home on W&M's team & campus. Also, unless he commits early, a lot can change during his senior year. SEC Coaches he's attached to could get fired or move along. Those SEC offers can disappear quickly as other kids commit. Even if he commits early, BCS programs have been known to recommend kids look elsewhere when new commits come along they like more. Bottom line - get in their, maintain contact, hope for the best. You never know how next season will unfold.
That interview with Hughes was for the Miss State forum, so would expect it to be slanted to Mississippi. He's actually from Tennessee, though spitting distance from Oxford. Miss State was not very good this year. Hughes was injured for a good part of his junior year, so, still a little under the radar. Religeous kid who seems to fit the players we have and typically recruit. Think a W&M degree is a lot hotter than a degree from Mississippi. At least our recruiting is up where it needs to be and has been the past 5 years. Hopefully, we'll see it pay off in time with even higher talent. Still need to see us start getting some inside strength to keep up with what NU has coming in.
Mississippi State just fired their coach. Not sure how that might play into things.
