I can see ECU coming in as all-sports IF they make a MAJOR commitment in basketball. Much like what Memphis is presently doing in football. Other than basketball (and that VERY important in this conference IMO) ECU has a pretty good sports program. The major issue with ECU as I see it is their small TV market. #14 would probably come in in 2015 with Navy.

1) Uh exactly what strides has Memphis football made over the last decade to qualify that statement?

2) Football is what drives the bus nowadays. That may not have been true when the Big East was first formed but it certainly is now. The Big East imploded because its previous commissioner was obsessed with keeping the basketball schools happy while letting football slip.

3) The only school that should be on the radar for #14 is BYU. We can't "settle" for anyone else at this point.

Don't get me wrong. I LIKE Fresno. I just think if Ehrhart is right, and both BYU and AFA decline, the BE might take ECU over anybody else, now that ND left an all sports opening.

For western school fans who want another neighbor in the conference, you better hope that BYU or AFA says yes.

At this point, who cares. At least they don't run the option. I'm so sick of all this nonsense. I just want the tv deal and team 14 to be decided and over with. Oh, and divisions. I wish I had a time machine

Interesting take. Personally, I like the intrigue. Keeps my interest. At some point, it needs to be decided, but there is no rush.

We've known all along that the TV deal won't be settled before November, as well as these other issues.

You have a mirror image market draw as Fresno I believe.

Fresno being the western version of ECU should answer questions why they aren't ever brought up by anyone connected with the Big East. I remember everyone saying after SDSU and Boise were added #12 would come from the west no matter what. Instead 2 eastern basketball first schools were added. It's always been pretty clear the Big East isn't that interested in going west again unless it's for a brand name like Air Force or BYU.

NBPirate.

After all the drama and hatred towards the defectors from C-USA, give us a rundown of a sequence of events that would happen if ECU were given and accepted an invite from the Big East.

Other ECU fans, feel free to add in.
The only way adding another eastern team would sit okay with us westerners is if we go to 16 teams and #14 & 15 are west of Texas.

And I don't like the idea of 16 - too many scheduling problems - some teams wouldn't play each other for years.

So no to 16 and no to #14 being on the east coast.

My $0.02

We'd be new best friends and anyone that dare say a bad word about the BE would catch a firestorm from our fanbase unlike any the boards had ever seen

Maybe at times it is, but we've danced around the subject so many times that I just want to hit fast forward on it. I can only imagine if the tv deal drags on into the spring
I'll say this- I can just imagine the firestorm that ECU fans would get from the remaining CUSA schools.

Understatement of the year.

The thing is, we would be so fired up, that they don't want to play that game

It's why Bobby K demanded a western team before he signed on the line, he knew that was the most he could get and none would be coming after he signed.

Certainly possible, but not likely. I think the major terms and networks will be announced much sooner. The details may take that long to get the contracts signed, but the big news should happen by Christmas, I'm guessing, for the TV deal and for #14, perhaps. Divisions will be announced next month.
We'd probably be expanding to 60K in very short order if we were added. Add RU, UL, UC, USF, UCF to our OOC schedule of BYU, WVU, SC, NCSU & UNC.
