Who is acting like we've arrived? I'm defending my program...which is ridiculous because I shouldn't have to. Yes, UCF fan, Memphis has had some seriously rough patches in the past 30 years. The also played some pretty murderous schedules in the 80s and 90s as well and won some pretty damned big games. Let's not act like Memphis sucked for 30 years straight and then had one good season. Oh, to give you an idea of what Memphis had to go through as an independent which UCF never did...our 1989 schedule included- Mississippi, Mississippi St, Florida, Florida St, and Alabama. In 87 our first five games were Ole Miss, Vandy, Florida St, Miss St, and Alabama. It eased off a bit in 93 with only Mississippi St, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Miami. However, we played at least 4 P5 opponents every year until 2000. Most of them were on the road. We also beat Bama, Southern Cal, Florida, Arkansas (x3), Mississippi (multiple times), Miss St(multiple times), Vandy (multiple times), Missouri, Tennessee...had there been as many bowls then as there are now we would still have had multiple bowl trips in the 80s and 90s. The problem has come that when we have bad seasons they are very bad. When Memphis has a losing season it usually isn't 4-7. It's usually 1-10.
I don't claim Memphis has arrived. I will tell you, though, that about 4 years ago the powers that be at Memphis began to take football as seriously as basketball. You see what kind of season Memphis had three years later.
Ok, this got me curious - I'll bite. We have all been bad at some point.
Since 1912 (I did not realize MU has been playing football that long- nice) Memphis has:
Record: 455-498-33 (.478)
Bowl Games: 7
Weeks in AP Poll: 2
Conference Champs: 7
Since 1979 UCF has:
Record: 224-190-1 (.541)
Bowl Games: 7
Weeks in AP Poll: 11
Conference Champs: 4
Uh.............shouldn't you be using UCF's history since 1996 when they started playing FBS then Div. I football. They weren't eligible for bowl games nor conference championships nor AP rankings until then. Additionally, UCF was independent in football from 1996 until 2001 when they joined the MAC, thus ineligible for conference championships until 2001.
I think we'd be splitting unnecessary hairs at that point. Even from the starting point he selected, it's an impressive resume, most would agree.
As someone mentioned earlier, strange to think that Houston Football is only ~30 years older than UCF football.
Even more impressive when you consider we've done all that in only 15-19 years depending on when we were elible for bowl games and AP rankings/conference championships.

Don't sweat it. At least we have history unlike some Florida schools.
Talking smack about a team because it literally did not exist as long as yours is about the dumbest type of smack talk you can make. Especially when that program has been far more competitive over the past decade.
It's called history, get some. One day you might go a decade of absolute crap because it happens to everyone.
Either way, I feel your jealousy. It's ok little buddy. Btw, UCF was so lucky not to play us last year. Since you didn't play us, we gave you a Championship. You should be thanking us.

I try not to talk smack about Memphis because I believe they have some of the most passionate and intelligent posters on this board. UCF has absolutely nothing to be jealous of when it comes to Memphis football "little buddy." The reality is UCF gave Memphis a championship when they lost their only AAC game in two years to UConn.

RE: USF is going to win the AAC this year because....
For all the debate, I dont care less if we "contend" for the AAC this year or not. I want at least 6 wins and a bowl game, preferably the cure bowl.
Willie Taggart has outrecruited everyone in the middle of the worst times in USF history. He just got a commitment of a 4 star DB whos best friend is a 4 star QB, who is rumored to be leaning toward USF.
The AAC nightmare is Taggart turning this thing around, cause if he is able to start going to bowls he will recruit at levels not seen.

Wow those are some impressive rumors and hypotheticals
Wow! I did not realize USF leads the UCF series 4-2. I guess after reading all the posts hear... I thought UCF held the clear advantage.

Me- "Seems silly to talk sh*t about a team for literally not existing as long as yours has, especially considering that younger team is outperforming the older team."
You- "YEAH, WELL WE EXISTED LONGER THAN YOU!"
That's actually what happened here, and you thought hitting [POST REPLY] was a good idea. But if you want to talk history, we're 9-1 against you, with a 9 game winning streak starting in 2005 and continuing into 2013. So your claim that we're lucky we didn't play you is, well, ludicrous. I say, seems like you need to learn your history, boy.

This isn't smack talking at our but the series records between UCF and Memphis are hilarious in football and basketball. Both are so ridiculously lopsided!

UCF does lead USF in the the NCAA probation department, which is a metric winsipedia.com is working hard to add for its next release. LOL

Yeah, find another program that can stick its neck out for a 4 star loser QB like DaMarcus Smith who never played a down at UCF can't even make it at WKU and then get a probation. At least we could have had some Miami-like story about hookers, cash and yachts. Instead we are stuck with texts and cellphones.
