No disrespect with Louisville, but Pitt really doesn't have much history with them and we haven't been in the same conference for even a decade yet. We've played Miami twice as many times. I actually agree with this sentiment. I would think Pitt/Cuse are as inseparable as FSU/Miami

Not really. It just goes to show that a bunch of games between two schools does not make it a rivalry. Wake Forest is Clemson's 3rd most played opponent but they aren't a rival, just someone we have played and beat a bunch.
One constant I have heard from both Pitt and Cuse fans since they came aboard the ACC is that the two schools are never up at the same time, and it pretty much seems like just another game on the schedule despite the history.
The impression I get is the majority of the Cuse fans are going to automatically gravitate towards BC as a rival because of the existing hatred (exasperated by the fact that BC had the balls to follow through with leaving the Big East the first go round and they didn't)

Yeah, I have a feeling Pitt will really want to keep Syracuse as a yearly opponent. PSU, WVU, Pitt, and Syracuse all played each other yearly for almost 50 years and were basically their own little conference. I know it's old-fashioned these days but I think these rivalries should be maintained as much as possible.

Actually
FSU, Clemson, GT, NC State, Wake, and VT.
That was we can kick either Ewenc or Miami's ass in the ACCCG.

In football, Pitt/SU is absolutely not a rivalry based on hate. I'd say, on Pitt's side, Pitt people generally like SU when not playing Pitt. It is more like a tradition. An annual golf game with an old friend. It doesn't mean you don't really want to beat them though.

I think you need at least two of the four things listed below to successfully build a rivalry.
#1. Geographic proximity (e.g. in-state or border war rivalries)
#2. Games must be played with regularity (i.e. familiarity breeds contempt) and mean something (bragging rights, conference titles, etc)
#3. Competitive history
#4. Shared mission (e.g. holy war rivalries)
The problem I see with your list is that under the current 8 game divisional set-up, UofL will only play schools from the coastal division 2 out of every 6 seasons. That means we'll play a school like Pitt four times in 12 years and only twice @ PJCS. That simply isn't enough games to really build any sort of meaningful rivalry with coastal division schools in my opinion.

Cuse needs to keep playing Pitt annually. I'd like to see Cuse play UL annually too...but if I had to pick one I'd go with Pitt. Either put us in the same division or make us their annual crossover with Pitt. The hate isn't there but it is tradition and only 5.5 hrs by car.
We hate more on BC. VTech was a huge new rival back in the 90s...so was Miami. Not sure if either get resurrected back to former glory. For some reason I see NCSt becoming a big hate rival...their fans dislike us and lots of transplants around Raleigh. I see Cuse becoming huge BB rivals with UNC, Duke, NCSt. We'll maintain rivalries with Louisville and Pitt in BB and FB. Not sure about Clemson and FSU as rivals. If we play every year with them I think the rivalry only will develop if the series is pretty even.

I am not saying that UofL is going to replace former rivalries. I was just placing in order the schools that I think UofL might develop rivalries with in the new conference. The cool thing is looking forward to seeing what actually happens once we're playing in the ACC.

I tend to see UL/Cuse develop more of a friendly rivalry: Boeheim/Pitino relationship, fellow AAA teams, Both City Named Schools, Both schools have similar urban settings, Cuse went to bat for UL.

I agree, I would like Pitt and Louisville to play as often as possible as well. They are in relative close proximity, are both city schools, and have some recent history. It could develop into a big rivalry. Only Syracuse is really above them in the pecking order for me.

RE: ACC Winter Meetings tomorrow!
it is true that UVA did oppose Louisville, Wake was actually not a big proponent. Wake wanted the ACC to seriously consider Navy, but was scoffed at but many and that notion was ignored. Duke and UNC both pushed for Louisville's admittance, with Syracuse's AD calling around the league many times to help get Louisville in, and also say some negatives things about UCONN. I didn't realize the hatred between Cuse and UCONN but it became apparent.
It is also true that UNC, Duke, Wake supported UCONN, they almost would have supported anyone.... those three along with Clemson..VT..BC..Pitt and Cuse seemed to care the most about the ACC surviving and coming out stronger. Thats why I laugh when I hear rumors about any of them, they seem to be constantly working to secure the conference, with FSU there as well. GT was supportive as well, but looking for an AD they weren't as involved in the process as some.

I dont think I have ever heard of a leaving member voting for members or being in discussions after they left, do SU and Pitt vote for Tulane, or Missouri vote for WVU. Maryland has nothing to back up that point of theirs.
Except as their lawsuit states, that they haven't withdrawn yet. They made a public announcement but haven't submitted the paperwork yet. The same reason they feel that having conference disbursements withheld is illegal as well.

It's a better fit. Neither BC or UVA have any fans who care at least let VT and Louisville have a game that will be hotly contested.

BC means nothing to this SU fan. Pitt does in hoops but not so much in football. The team that I love to hate in football is VT. I was sad to see them leave the BE.

^ Your AD and Administration do not feel that way, one of the first request was to be in Division with BC or be their counter rival.

I'd like to see VPI as our permanent game, assuming the divisions don't change. We've got some history with them and they deserve payback for the 2006 Gator Bowl.
