IF USF is too far east...then you take UTSA. If you can take 14...then take USF/UTSA/ECU. You pick up the Florida, TX, and North Carolina markets.

I think good chance Gonzaga would join that group.

This is the best of the rest and is a very solid 5th conference. If someone gets poached...no biggie...just reload.

Well when CUSA was formed, mainly from the Metro and Great Midwest, they were initially going to form a new conference, but decided they needed the Metro shell. So they kicked out VCU and ODU and added most of the Great Midwest Schools (Memphis, Cincinnati, Marquette, DePaul) and Houston.

If the PAC can successfully poach from the MWC and AAC, I'd do this:

1. Commit to hiring Gloria Nevarez as commissioner.
2. Commit to 24 schools for football and 22 schools for basketball to alleviate geographical pressure.
3. Rename the conference the Pan-American Conference. If not, this is low on the totem pole of importance. Either way, keep PAC branding.
4. Pull from the AAC: East Carolina, Memphis, Navy*, North Texas, Rice, South Florida, Tulane, Tulsa, UAB, UTSA. Temple would decide to revert to independence and the A10 and build its schedule around Army, Connecticut, and Massachusetts with the hope to be pulled into the ACC at some point. Charlotte and Florida Atlantic join CUSA.
5. Pull from the MWC: Everyone.
(Yes, I am aware of the exit fees. I don't think it is possible today.)

Football Scheduling
- No divisions.
- 10 conference games: 3 annual opponents, 8 biannual opponents (4/4), 12 quadrennial opponents (3/3/3/3).

Basketball Scheduling
- 22 conference games: 5 rivals (H/H = 10 games), 12/16 schools (6 H, 6 A) > miss 4 schools every year so play everyone every 3/4 years.

They're not going to dissolve the Mountain West. Even if 9 schools were about to reach that point, the orphans would let them leave for free rather than destroy the MWC shell.

Dad's not going to leave the wife and kids and then also burn down the house on the way out the door. He'll just leave.

The Pac-2 and MWC should do the reverse merger and invite New Mexico State & UTEP. Rebrand as the Pac-16 after that. My only question is, do you have Hawai'i join as a full member (I say yes.), or do you let them continue as a football-only member and get Wichita State to leave the AAC to fill that void?

I think that the western end of the AAC would be willing to jump to that (and the MWC at this point is the 5th best conference - after the dust settles - even if they don't merge, somehow, under some name, with the PAC-2).

Can they invite the entire MWC to the PAC - and
1a: keep the exit fees from the other 10 PAC-12 schools that are leaving because they are remaining a conference
1b: keep NCAA basketball credits from PAC-12 because they are remaining a conference

2a: avoid any exit fees for MWC schools by adding the entire MWC
2b: bring all NCAA credits with MWC schools and apply them to the conference because all the MWC schools are joining the same conference

3: get the MWC TV deal or better (now that the MWC would be gone, the networks have the former MWC time slots to fill)

4. add 2-6 western AAC schools (maybe not immediately). Is Memphis west enough for the PA2/MWC?

If the Pac2 pulled away from AAC negotiations only confirms to me it was really The AAC who actually pulled away from them and their crazy selfish tactic demands.

I get it The AAC has lost many good programs but they still have a good solid tv deal with ESPN… Here hope AAC remains intact with their current membership lineup, simply focus in going all in with inviting Army and call it a day.

Merge the MWC into the PAC shell.

Name it the PAC.
