Pros.
2 years of CFP Rose Bowl / Contract Bowl money. Probably.
Autonomy 5 status. Probably.
Escape the dregs of your current conference.
Who exactly are the dregs is a matter of debate, opinion and taste.

Cons.
Big exit fees for what could be a lateral move. (Could be cushioned by PAC-2 financial aid.)
Pacific time zone travel.
Risk being stranded if the PAC-2 can't recruit enough to make it to the other side.
(Texas State, UTSA came out okay from their FBS transitions into the WAC, but it's risky)

No pull for this without Cal & Stan.

PAC-2: Just merge in the entire MW, and be done. Then work to improve, and potentially get a Big XII invite in the future.

There's nowhere to move. Even the WSU president basically admitted the only hopes on rebuilding the PAC required keeping CalFord around. That's over, and I'll be damned even if offered if I'd want ECU to pay in the 20 million+ range of exit fees to join OSU/WSU plus some random collection of other G5 schools. I'd take the SMU deal to join the ACC if that existed, obviously it doesn't.

They can take Memphis, Tulane, and two more AAC school west of the Mississippi of their choice. Then SDSU, Boise State and Hawaii FB-only makes an 8 game conference schedule in 2024. They would have to help all of them with their exit fees, and for the MWC schools their court costs to fight them down, which is why only two full MWC members.

They can add three more MWC schools in 2025, but the focus is going to be the PTZ, not the mountain TZ, for the 10:30pm Saturday inventory that they are going to be selling to ESPN, now that the four most valuable PTZ schools are locked away from ESPN showing them on the mothership at 10:30pm (Eastern) Saturday nights.

The financial problem is, the incremental media value of the conference is not dramatically higher than just taking all of the MWC, and then the PAC2 legacy income gets to be shared within the conference without having to hand anything to the conference(s) and schools being left behind.

There's nowhere to move. Even the WSU president basically admitted the only hopes on rebuilding the PAC required keeping CalFord around. That's over, and I'll be damned even if offered if I'd want ECU to pay in the 20 million+ range of exit fees to join OSU/WSU plus some random collection of other G5 schools. SBC right now

I think rebuilt PAC would be better quality and more competitive WITHOUT Stanford/Cal. Don’t have to take Rice now. Ha. Just don’t know if exit fees worth the work around.

In 2026… add the MWC schools for 12 total.

Oregon State, Was. State, Boise State, SDSU, CSU, Air Force.

Memphis, Tulane, Navy, USF, ECU, UTSA.

Pretty strong league there.

Yep. Invite all 12 MWC schools

You will have 2 years of premium CFP payout to Divy up plus the PAC's NCAA credits.

Make it a condition of admission for the MWC schools to give the conference their NCAA credits they will now get paid directly from the NCAA.

You have the MWC TV deal with FOX and CBS which can be worked to become the new PAC TV deal with higher payout and extension.

No more special Boise deal either in the new PAC if the MWC dissolves so that will end that up happiness

I hope they do this versus some best of the rest

Our best hope for the future is joining the haggard remains of the ACC at some point over the next decade.
