Seems like something Fickell would do but our punting game is completely different now than it was when he played. Not even sure he knows much about the Rugby style.

Honestly, no need to mess with our punting game. We're now running on like 6 straight seasons where it has been great to elite.

Yeah, and I'll be the first one to say that just because you can punt or kick, doesn't mean you can coach STs...it takes A LOT more than that to be good, lord knows I had some serious growing pains those first couple of years.

Punters and kickers enjoy the longest work life expectancy of any position group in the NFL, currently at 4.9 years. Huber got what--- 14 years. If we are being honest if it weren't the Bengals and he wasn't a Cincinnati guy he probably would have only done half that.

Looking forward to seeing what Huber does once he formally hangs it up.

Half that is probably an exaggeration. He was a top half of the NFL punter for most of his career and was especially deft at putting the ball inside the 20. The last 3 years he has fallen off a cliff... Bengals at the very least should have moved on this past offseason if not before, but I don't think many NFL franchises would have moved on from what Huber produced throughout most of his career.

Just curious, but what are the metrics you are using for that statement? Last year he was 14th in the league in punt avg. and 2 years ago he had the best year of his career (total avg and net avg) and was 7th in the league.

I could be misremembering. Maybe it wasn't until last year i noticed a decline . Judging by the data two years ago he was still strong.

And the overall numbers last year aren't that bad. This year they've been abysma.

Fair enough. I think what you may be thinking of is that it seemed like in the past several years, when they needed him at crucial times, it hasn't seemed like he's come thru and even shanked one here or there at the worst possible time.

They had James Hudson in at FB for those final goal line runs in OT too.

Travis Kelce giving a "transformational gift" to the University of Cincinnati.

But he doesn't say "UC" in his TV introductions...so should it really count?

Sounds like Kevin Huber's long, incredible playing career may have come to an end (although I wouldn't be surprised if the Bengals add him to the practice squad as a mentor and just-in-case option in their quest for the SB so you never know....) Anyway, here's a great tribute from earlier this year to a great Bearcat:

Sorry to see Hubers career end. Would be nice for him to have some role with the Bengals still

If he was smart, he'd have millions in the bank to live off of the rest of his life while also receiving the NFL pension.
