It’s not going to happen. There is no better alternative. None even close.

I'm sure ODU and Marshall are ready whenever Temple wants to go.
Temple can leave any time they want. I'd be fine with replacing them with Marshall or Liberty.

Yea ... With the contract staying flat for existing members plus exit/entry fees ... There are no better non power options for the 8 football schools left.
WSU is the only one with a potential jump that makes sense ( Big East) but that invite is unlikely.

At this point I think the AAC has made it pretty clear they have zero interest in Marshall, ever.

As if CUSA and the Sun Belt weren't enough. There are now 3 G4 conferences with a nearly identical footprint.
Did AAC's footprint change significantly? I don't really think so. So, now, if everything goes through the conference will extend all the way into South Florida (region not the school)?

When USF and Memphis leave, they'll add Georgia State and FIU.

It would probably make more sense for Tulane to move to the east instead of Memphis. Either way, Navy would likely stay in the west and would have a say in the decision.

First, hope this happens. If so, older brother went to Navy, so I hope they move them to the east, which would give me one team to root for in the west and one in the east. I hope Aresco will take this into consideration.
Otherwise, if they stay in the west, it will have to be Let's Go Navy, sung to the tune of Let's Go Brandon.

I hope Memphis leaves with temple to go independent (don’t think b12 is gonna call) and beg for big East for basketball. What a disaster. North Texas, fau, USA, charlotte … wtf. They are all fine institutions that should play ball together, in another conference. Even Marshall would have been a better add with UAB. What’s the rush to 14?

Memphis is going east if this configuration ever actually plays a game.
Navy wants Tulane, Rice, SMU, Tulsa. UTSA and UNT are acceptable because it means an extra trip to Texas every year. This also means half of Navy's schedule is now against schools that share similar restrictions to themselves with the CIC series. 6 games a year versus privates or Academies is a nice set up for them. Of course SMU and Tulane are probably gone soon so then it's back to four with just Tulsa and Rice.
Wichita will be gone to the MW if Gonzaga turns them down again
Tulsa is isolated and won't have a partner to go MW with.
Temple and ECU have no better options.
USF, SMU, Tulane, and Memphis are B12 bound so I doubt this is ever an issue.

I can see that. Indy in football and back to the A10 in other sports. Not a fan of the adds. Bball is terrible and most have done little in football as well. Adding 6 teams from a terrible league doesn’t seem like the right move. Would imagine Wichita is doing everything the can to get out as well.

Basketball. Does. Not. Matter.
Only one yankee school left. Temple, your days are numbered.
That's a positive.

This is exactly what will happen. Aresco realizes it isn't about the competition you play for most G5 teams, it is about their record. Think Coastal Carolina.
SMU on one side, Memphis on the other. The goal is the AAC has 2 brand names, ideally undefeated to that point, playing championship week to get the G5 auto bid. It is pretty smart imo.
yeah UAB and Memphis have to be in the same division, y'all...
And Navy, Tulane, Rice, and SMU need to be in the same division.

I was pondering the opposite. Memphis west and Tulane east to try to get some balance in the public/private spread.

Temple needs to pull a Uconn and ride the media contract and exit $$$ out while quietly courting their old conference. Then when the money is all gone announce that they are rejoining the A10 and football independence.
The Linc is PERFECT for body-bag games like Penn State and you can play an FCS against 'Nova AND a non-scholly against Penn.
