It must feel like a wild ride in Denton.

Now, you get to install a defense, at AAC level.

Yes. It has been crazy since our loss against Marshall Friday night. Before I pissed off all of my connections at UNT, I knew we were still in good shape and moving somewhere, but still leveraging our position for the best outcome.

I'm excited about the move, and Littrell will be gone soon enough. I'm ready to start focusing on which coach we need to lead us into the American. Part of me really wants to go raid a MWC program for one of their better coaches. That would grab some headlines.

Is there really someone over there that you guys think would be successful at UNT or are you trolling? Most of their coches are old farts or young unproven and underperfoming coaches. Maybe someone like Anderson would be a good fit at UNT but that doesn't really grab headlines.

Not sure. Hoke at San Diego State might be good. They are #22 right now and we can afford him.

Why would he leave SD for NT for similar money?

I don't know that he would, and I don't know that UNT would want him. I'm just speculating. If I were UNT I'd at least bring him in for an official interview, if he would come. It would be good press for UNT, and help improve our brand's perception.

Hoke only makes $1 million at San Diego St. I'm sure his wife would like him to make $2 million. Mine would.

I've been told Seth will not be back next season.

But some fans with short memories and the inability to research his lack of success at UNT, think he has finally learned to coach. They failed to look at the records of the teams we have beaten over the past 4 games.

He lost to Holtz. That should be enough to get any coach fired.

Seth is leaving after this season.

Several players with illegibility left will be honored Saturday during senior day.

Harrell was a great OC for us, but judging by Baker's track record of hiring (McCasland & DeLong), he will target a proven winner from among the fired P5 coaches, or from among the affordable programs in the MWC, Sub Belt, Mac, C-USA, or FCS.

With the move to the American, our university president has opening expressed how UNT will increase resources to athletics. I expect our next coach to earn at least what Littrell has been stealing from us (around $2 million a year). And for the right coach maybe $3.5 million a year. It will be interesting to watch this story as we finish our season.

Funny, Baker didn't get fired...he got a raise.

This guy has impeccable timing to be where he has been. I never understood why everyone likes him so much. I just don't see it.

Baker is smart. He was able to sell UNT to the American when we were neither a successful product on the field or a necessary market addition. In my opinion, our spot in the AAC probably would have gone to ODU. The guy doesn't make many mistakes. That's why I'm confident Littrell will be shown the door after the season.

Wren Baker has been a good AD for North Texas.

You giving him all that credit? I mean I don't doubt you know more about it than most but I think UNT has more going for it than a good sales pitch. Endowment? Budget? Location? Those are all things outside an AD's control.

One of the big marks on any AD's resume is what kind of football hires they've made so I guess we are about to find out lol.

I'll give him the credit I think he deserves. UNT's endowment is nothing to brag about ($217.8 million). Baker inherited an athletic budget that was $34 million in 2015 and has managed to grow it to just under $41 million in the most recently reported numbers. As for location, SMU already provided the American with a presence in the Dallas market. Both Buffalo and ODU would have brought the American larger endowments & athletic budgets, while adding new sizable markets. So yeah, I have to give Baker credit for being a good salesman. But, even so... if Baker doesn't remove Littrell after this season, a large portion of our fans will turn on him.

LIttrell will be at NT next year unless UTSA blows NT completely out Saturday.

Just a guess, but a win or close game gets Littrell another season.

NT is getting better, and they were only projected to win 3 or 4 games.

NT also is a very young team and I doubt NT is going to spend a few extra million to get rid of Littrell.

Obviously, NT was chosen for the AAC for a lot of reasons, not based on the current football team.

I highly doubt any decision has been made on Littrell. He will be fully evaluated in light of his performance and the availability of possible replacements.

What I think will happen, is not what I want to happen. Too many interpret pronostifications with wishes.

he didn't "grow the budget" at all he has just taken larger and larger academic side transfers and spent them

anyone could do that

This is the problem with giving new head coaches yuuuuge contracts. Happened at siu 10-15 years ago in basketball. They were rolling and gave a new coach a 10+ year contract and couldn’t afford to buy him out.

And Baker didn’t sell anything to the AAC. UNT is located in a market of 7.6 million people and growing. All ESPN wanted was markets with the AAC additions. Location sold itself Baker had nothing to do with that.

Yes 7.6 million reasons. Don’t kid yourself Location was the reason UNT was added to the AAC. UTSA, FAU, Charlotte no brand no following just plenty of people for ESPN
