RE: SI.COM: CUSA to Request AAC to Reorganization into two conferences
(10-12-2021 01:10 PM)UpStreamRedTeam Wrote: I am curious what CUSA's end game is here by making this public. I am sure that through back channels they are going to get a flat rejection from the AAC. What are they hoping to accomplish by getting publicly rejected?
What is the purpose? Possibly, it’s that the CUSA members who want to split up the conference are publicly getting a conference-wide endorsement of the idea of splitting up CUSA.
Consider this. Here is the proposal as reported by the si article:
Quote:The western conference would include SMU, North Texas, Rice, UTEP, Southern Miss, Tulane, Tulsa, Louisiana Tech, Wichita State, UAB, Memphis and UTSA. The eastern conference would feature East Carolina, Charlotte, Old Dominion, Temple, Marshall, FAU, FIU, South Florida, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky and two potential new additions.
And here’s what it looks like if you replace the AAC remainers, who were never going to say yes anyway, with blanks to be filled in later. This is the real proposal:
Quote:The western conference would include _____, North Texas, Rice, UTEP, Southern Miss, _____, _____, Louisiana Tech, _____, UAB, _____ and UTSA. The eastern conference would feature _____, Charlotte, Old Dominion, _____, Marshall, FAU, FIU, _____, Middle Tennessee, Western Kentucky and two potential new additions, _____ and _____.
