Texas Pete sucks, it has no spice, and is watered down. It is geared towards southern white women who think mayo is spicy.
There is a bottle of Texas Pete on the table of any respectable mom & pop restaurant in North Carolina. It is a staple. Yes, we know there is better out there... but it is ours.
TEXAS Pete is yours?
Developed and still manufactured in Winston-Salem, NC.

According to Wikipedia, a marketing adviser recommended Mexican Joe as the name and the creator said he wanted it to be American and Texas is associated with hot foods so he decided to go with Texas Pete.

That would be a big NO. It’s nothing but expensive salt sold by a no-good lsu ass-kissing owner.

Well, I guess I won't buy it anymore, but not because it's salty.
Any recommendations for something genuine I can get in a grocery store? I don't get down to LA very often (ever).

Is Slap Ya Momma liked in Louisiana? I have become pretty fond of that seasoning while cooking

Cholula is Texas Pete. Do a side by side if you doubt. Valentina is good as well. for flavor sauces.
If you want Hair growing heat Some other guys and myself keep a bottle of Da' Bomb sauce here at the V.A. to brighten our days.

Slap Ya Mama is my widely available go-to. Made in Ville Platte, LA.
I have a wide variety of seasoning blends from local Cajun meat stores, all are basically the same with ratios of the Cajun spices tweaked differently.

I would say it is a Top-5 seasoning in LA. They make a White Pepper blend for those folks, like me, who have a little trouble with the Black Pepper.
We use it often.

You can't go wrong with Slap Ya Mama or, my go-to, Cajun Power.

Duke's tastes like vinegar pudding. Give me the creamy and almost buttery Hellmann's all day.
For everyday hot sauce, I go with Valentina, Cholula, or Frank's.
Heatonist used to make a fiery chipotle sauce that was the best hot sauce I've ever had. It was enough to burn a bit but also had an incredible sweet and smoky flavor. I've also got The Last Dab in my fridge, but it only comes out on rare occasions.

I think Parish is the best around here, and Ghost in the Machine would be the best overall beer.
In my humble opinion.

Tabasco Green is also very good.
Powders: Louisana Cajun seasoning, chupacabra Cajun blend, chupacabra brisket magic.
Liquids: Dave’s Gourmet Ghost Pepper, Tabasco chipotle, Tabasco Habanero, Mikey V’s Sweet Ghost Pepper.
If your ever in Georgetown, TX you can find Mikey V’s downtown on the square, foods good, and they sell a variety of hot sauces on the premises . . .

It really isn’t for Louisiana though. We don’t have that many craft breweries and most that we do have are slightly above average. Parish and Urban South would be the only two who I’d say make great beers that could compete with the heavyweights out West and on the East Coast. New Orleans is the only place in the state with an actual craft beer scene where I’ve seen new breweries pop up and older breweries working to make better beers due to increased competition in the area. As a frame of reference western North Carolina has like 4 times as many breweries as the entire state of Louisiana. Comparing craft breweries with some of our conference mates may be a losing effort as we would likely only beat out Arkansas and maybe South Carolina in that arena, we would be fighting neck and neck with Alabama, and would get whipped handily by Texas, NC, and Georgia.

Parish
Bayou Teche
Gnarled Barley
Urban South
Tin Roof
Abita
All offer some really good beers.
