Enjoy the next ten years of ESPN
okay, i get it now.. sdsu fans have never majorly been on espn so they have no clue what they are missing out .. theyve exclusively being on a bad networks, i dont think sdsu has ever been on a good tv deal ever (which likely play into why their brand isnt bigger)
i think you are confusing, ESPN the monopoly, and ESPN the tv distribution network..
CBSSN has great announcers (very g5 informed) but
horrific distribution and visibility
no reasonable person wants their games on cbssn... ESPNNews is in more households than CBSSN
the aac was 80% ESPN, 20% CBSSN in our old deal..google "cbssn" on this board over the last 8 years, it's 90% pure hatred for their distribution and 10% complementing the announcers
CBSSN-
- does not provide online full replay like espn/fox sports
- does not promote the games on cbs main or any network
- does not make highlights for games on its network (for online or anywhere)
- already mentioned, in less households than the worst espn network
- only created a way to watch online 3years ago, espn has had an online option for close to 10 years
- cbssn has no social media or outreach method beyond what is on the tv
- cbssn has no p5 under contract, yet all their college sports shows are about p5 exclusively
- cbs is extremely trigger happy with the copyright infringement (unlike espn who doesnt care)..so it's rare for full cbssn games to be put on youtube. ive asked channels who put full games online for cbssn game, they say its higher risk to upload those games
ive made this same joke for the last 8 years...
cbssports is where games go to die, if you are not one of the 80-100k viewers that watched it live on tv, then that game never existed.. you will never see it or highlights of it..its gone
-- also espn
produces espn+ shows for aac teams: "The Harder Way" (memphis basketball) "Our Time: UCF Football", "The Hilltop" (SMU football)...all 3 and hardknocks/last chance u style documentary that follows the team throughout the season
interesting side note, our new deal doesnt include cbssn (except navy home games)..aresco said we had the option to get cbssn but chose not to (like in our old deal for lower-tier games), said espn+ for our lower-tier games were drastically more accessible, and games on espn+ are allowed to be sublicensed to local tv networks
no reasonable person wants cbssn... ill chose 3million viewers on espn over 80k on cbssn..so will everyone else who isnt trying to be biased ..ESPN hatred or not..as Houston goes to the big 12, i think its imperative the new big 12 tv deal includes atleast 50% ESPN like it does now
whats crazy is that boise is forcible is making the mwc not sell their content to cbssn..and sell it to ESPN and that where you want to be?
