Were ESPN to throw a ton of money back into the AAC should it add the best 4 MWC teams then maybe someone would listen, as long as there is no buyout cost should the B12 or another conference come calling.

I don't see that happening.

CSU and AF don’t even like the MWC and are looking to leave. If we lose Memphis and y’all lose Boise, CSU and AF will come… and the MWC is then all but dead.

Believe whatever you need, but even without our three schools, AF and CSU see the AAC as a better option and they won’t miss another round. SDSU will come when we ask because you really won’t have any other choice.
I guarantee without Boise, CSU and AF that anyone in the MWC we offer will come over… plus you commissioner is incompetent. Notice CSU and AF didn’t stay because of anything Thompson did.

And yet that didn't happen. No MWC is interested in joining the AAC right now. and for good reason. Sorry.

It’s dumb unless the two merge and make a 16/18 team league that spans the country. West versus east in the championship. TV would pay for that. And you would get your champ in the CFB playoff every year.

If the MWC and the AAC merged it would be 16/18 teams and better than the Big12.

Sad it won’t happen because nobody has vision they just want to keep their little fiefdoms. So keep your pitiful tv deal in the MWC- the AAC will grab UAB, App St, whoever and still most likely be the 6th best conference every year.

The only issue preventing this mega-conference are the current members that believe they are an option for future Big 12 expansion. They obviously don't want to pay two exit fews.

SDSU has the most to gain by being in the aac, its not even close...as far as Budget and Athletic success sdsu is by far the best big 12 option not in consideration.. SDSU has not been linked to the big 12 by any credible source.. NOT ONE .. colorado state who isnt even great at sports have been credibly linked.. you didnt make the top 11 for the big 12

coming to the aac and beating aac teams, on a drastically better tv deal with more exposure on eastern time .. is literally the missing piece for them to as brand and a p5 candidate

----------------------------------------------------------------------

im mentioning this becuase i was just going over SDSU's and Coastals schedule to see if Houston would jump them if we won out..and knew nothing about sdsu since they are never talked about on ESPN

did you know EVERY SDSU (but 2) will be on CBBSN or Worse....7! SEVEN CBSSN games!!!...1 pac12 network game, 1 online Stadium game, and one likely local/stadium Hawaii game
EVERY game starts at 10 or 10:30 eastern time to boot.. with a TBA for the hawaii game which could be like 1am start time

They had 1 weekday fs1 game (projected 300k or less viewers), and then the ONLY good exposure game 1 end of the season CBS game .. 1 total notable game for a potential top 15 team

THIS IS WHAT SDSU FANS ARE FIGHTING FOR.. 99% of college football fans will not watch your games except maybe the Boise game ...cbssn is so trash, half of the sdsu fans cant even catch sdsu games, its HEAVY complaints when our bad AAC teams get more than 3 games there, but a top 25 team for full season??? ..with covid restriction, sdsu only allows 10k fans too.. this could historically be your greatest team ever (As far as final AP raNkings) and NO ONE will see it.. and you are ADAMANTLY fighting to sustain that, from a league that is offering you 6-8 ESPN/ABC and 2-4 ESPN2 in PRIMETIME games if you are having a top 25 season...

no matter how good youll be for the next 5 years you are going to be on CBSSN for every conference, and home non-conference game for 85% of your games , and you re likely to sustain the same tv partners after those 5 years
You're seriously understating the value of regional rivalries and the extreme distance for them from most of the AAC.

i said this earlier too.. the MWC would take sdsu back in 7-10 years if it wasnt working..

the move isnt to get sdsu in the aac.. its to drastically increase sdsu value before the next round in a few years

if i was leadership in sdsu, its simple for me, the current strategy is projecting you to be left out.. at the very least it shakes up the system because the status quo wasnt working

but sdsu in the aac is on drastically better tv networks, in east time games against eastern opponents (could drastically increase exposure/brand awareness) could drastically improve recruiting (new recruiting grounds exposure)..and has sdsu play ALL the top big 12 candidates were sdsu could beat them in both sports and prove they are top option

if this is the case I think it is totally reasonable for there to be a reduced exit fee for ANY school that accepts a P5 invitation. Everyone has to sacrifice a little...get it done.

RE: AAC Western Division
Boise is essentially saying..”Hey guys let’s stick together. Let’s keep the league together so we can keep padding our record to impress the B12, then we can leave and only have to pay one exit fee. Thanks guys!”

Both conferences want the same thing and that is to be in the "Best of the rest" conference. They only way the can do that is to combine.

Be different...be the first conference to go to pods to reduce travel. This really isn't that difficult...play 4 games against your pod, 2 games against next closest pod, and then 1 game each against 2 furthest pods. Have a semi final and championship game. At worst you have one longer travel game each year.

TV networks would love this because of the amount of content and all time zones. Would be a good basketball and football league. If you lose Boise, Memphis, USF, etc. to B12 then you just move on with the current league.

New American Conference:

East: Temple, ECU, Navy, USF, Memphis

Central: SMU, Tulane, Tulsa, AF, CSU

Mountain: UNLV, Boise, Utah St., Wyoming, New Mexico

West: SDSU, Fresno St, Hawaii, San Jose St., Nevada

Clearly a best of the rest.

The other option is the two don't merge, but instead create a bowl where the winner gets the guaranteed G5 access spot in the new playoff system. The other three G5 leagues can qualify as at-larges if they rate high enough. It would be a TV moneymaker. High stakes.
