It's not just Navy, they want to make everyone happy. I just fail to see the long-term sustainability of a conference with marginal revenue and no geographic footprint. Same reason this Big 12 isn't sustainable with their recent additions. Right now they have a common goal, but when everyone starts taking L's to programs a thousand miles away and gate attendance drops they're going to question why they added schools which hurt their own schools brand long-term.
But that's not what this thread is about. It's about the Marshall fan listing the majority of their "in depth statistical categories" to include Marshall in the Top-2 setting himself up for anger, frustration, and disappointment when the American passes on their university yet again for some developmental cracker box in a "major metropolitan market" that's going to hand all it's current members W's.
LOL....what?
You can't honestly sit there and pretend I have skewed numbers to favor Marshall in all of this. You can't get much more objective than using the time frame from the last round of re-alignment.
You might not like these numbers, but they are objective and unbiased.
People can use the numbers to make whatever opinion they choose.
One could argue that completely leaving out the MWC skews the numbers in Marshall's favor. But I'm just a guy reading a message board.

That’s assuming MWC schools are willing candidates.

Exactly. And I for one haven’t seen any reliable evidence that any MWC school is interested in jumping to the AAC at this time.
If any such evidence surfaces I’m sure someone will post it here within minutes.

I don’t think any MWC are considering the AAC this go around. I don’t think the data provided is skewed toward Marshall or anyone else. It’s just data.

Is there reliable evidence that CUSA and SBC schools are interested, or are we making assumptions there as well?

Wouldnt this be because the cost of living is higher in Virginia?

Marshall is better than most of the MWC teams in these categories as well.....but I left them off because it's been stated multiple times. If you guys can raid the AAC then you will and none of this matters.....you guys can't raid the MWC so it's pointless to rank them lol

I think people are forgetting the three strong FCS schools in football.
North Dakota State
South Dakota State
James Madison
They do have a much better winning perchantage than the FBS schools right now.

I will stop donating if the Wonder Boys aren’t added to the AAC

What do you think our winning percentage would be if we were playing Morehead, Robert Morris, Stony Brooke, etc every week?

I’m going to discount Aresco’s geography doesn’t matter comments because I don’t believe any MWC schools are realistic given the AAC just lost 3 of their 5 top brands (Navy football and Memphis bball being the other two).
In no particular order:
Rice
UAB
Marshall
GSU
Buffalo
ODU
Seem to be the most likely pool from which to choose 2 or 4. I think each of the above has solid arguments in their favor.

I think Rice, Buffalo, and UAB will be the top 3 choices.
I agree with you on the 4th spot being a toss up depending on which direction the AAC wants to go.

I think MU has by far the strongest brand in the G5 (minus AAC/MWC), but I’m old enough to have parents who remember the crash . Rooting for you guys...

Rice stinks and bring nothing to the AAC.
UAB can't be trusted in case they decides to drop football again.

Vermont as a state flagship is surely a better candidate.

You don’t know understand how this works.
Was Boise State not invited to the Big XII because they’re just a bunch of meany-head dumb dumbs? Or were there other factors?

Mhmm. I am of the belief when you are adding teams you have to ask the question "if they became consistently terrible at both major sports would I still want to be in a league with them?" Do they make sense as an institution you'd want to be associated with if their performance started to stink. Now that's not saying add teams who stink currently, but if the only reason at all you are looking at a team is their current on the field success and everything else is a red flag that's probably a bad addition.
