I'm curious as to what percentage of the names are players the team really doesn't want to lose, what percentage are players whose leaving is no big deal, and what percentage would cause the coach to say, "Good riddance."?
1. Look at where the transfer lands. Is he moving up or even lateral, perhaps closer o home.
2. If the player is moving down, that kind of speaks for itself.
3. Could be a combination of 1 and 2, with the added instance of the player not finding a landing spot at all.

RE: Bainbridge in the Portal
I thought the recruiting of a high school kid was nauseating, advertising the cookie cutter comment about how blessed they are to receive offer X from School Z. Now it’s repeating itself several times over by the same kids when they go into the portal, first saying how blessed they were to have been given a chance at that school, then to announce they’re open for offers, then announce which offers they have received and ultimately announce their selection...until they want out and repeat the cycle all over again. BTW, if you loved it so much at the school that gave you such a chance, WTF you leaving?

RE: Bainbridge in the Portal
maybe the "portal transfer" will become like the NFL draft where know-it-all "talking heads" go on for weeks talking about who will draft whom, when everyone knows it never falls as predicted, and when some first round draft picks will be busts while some lower round picks and even undrafted free agents will shine. I can almost hear it now: "Mark my words, take it to the bank, Joe Smith will sign with Duke and be an All-American BAAA-BEEEE!"

Twitter is awful. Blessed to receive an offer from Point Park....? Wait a minute. They don’t give athletic scholarships.

I'm guessing most of the HS recruits are no longer in the mix. All the jucos are forwards and centers. Only one is a recent recruit (Ridgnal) and he's blown up since Kent has offered, which is often the case when Kent moves on a kid.
For that reason, I won't add the names of a few jucos that have mentioned an offer from Kent, but hoping one in particular commits. I will say several are still in the juco playoffs, which shows the caliber of player Kent is after, but exposes them to more offers from other often bigger schools.

Thanks for the update GoFlashes8. I see that Beck just announced he is coming back for another year. Pippen several months ago said he wasn't. Nuga is still undecided. That leaves Hamilton. Any word from him?

RE: Bainbridge in the Portal
BSU guard KJ Walton is transferring to Akron.
Now this is a weird one... not just because he's transferring in conference but also next year will be his 7th year in college. He played two years at Missouri, sat out a 3rd transferring to BSU, played his Jr year at BSU, only played 10 games due to an injury his 5th season and apparently got that year back? So he played his 6th season this year for BSU, it didn't count, so now he gets a 7th.
With how sought after D1 scholarships are, it feels a bit unfair to allow one guy to take up a scholarship for 7 years. To put that in perspective, by the time he was 7 years removed from high school, LeBron had been the Cavs all time leading scorer for 2 years, and was announcing his 'Decision' on national TV.

I just hope he is getting a good education and will leave with a degree, if not multiple degrees, and go on to live a fruitful adult life.

Read something today I wasn't aware of: Former GTown Guard who transferred last year to Texas A&M, put his name in the portal but recently pulled it out. Seems like since he has already transferred in the past, he would need a NCAA waiver to play immediately again.
So he pulled his name out of the portal and is now staying at TA&M. Big difference between transferring and playing ... and transferring and sitting, psrticularly in these turbulent times.
I wonder if this would also be the case w/Nuga and Hamilton???
I don't know ... but if anyone else does, please share.

I’m sure by the time he’s done at Akron he’ll have a nice Associates degree to help him advance in his delivery job...

Also Tyler Cochran is transferring from NIU to BSU. In conference transfers are rare. Odd to see two in the same day. I think I remember hearing a while back that when a player wants to transfer the school could make it easier for them if they agreed to not go to another school in conference. Don't remember the details of how that worked or even if it was true. Anyways, makes me wonder if the new, more flexible rules, will make in conference transfers more common.

Now, that's mean.
Hopefully, he's got a degree from one of his previous institutions.

The Big Ten had a rule that if a player transferred intraconference the school that player transferred to couldn't award him a scholarship. I imagine that rule no longer exists. Intraconference transfers anywhere were once extremely rare. That seems to be changing somewhat.

ACC, B10, MAC and several other leagues have all eliminated bans on intraconference transfers recently. It's the wild, wild, west.
I'm amazed to see teams like Kentucky, Duke, Carolina taking MULTIPLE transfers. These schools supposedly already have the pick of the litter.
I mean, between transfers and graduations, a ton of schools are losing entire starting fives.

I see the EMU has six in the portal, and just lost their second player, Ty Groce, to butler. Groce lead the team in scoring and rebounding.

Just took a look at EMU's basketball site. Reminds me a bit of Hickory High from Hoosiers. Six players & one coach. Oh the times we are in.

RE: Bainbridge in the Portal
Albert Flasher, scrolling down the list of "previous school" in alphabetical order, it shows that several teams may lose half their roster when it's all said and done. Amazing. So almost 1/3 of all DI players are either unhappy, think they can do better, or realize they need to move down.
