Nothing. This is the new college basketball. Practically all teams have multiple guys transfer out every season. This isn't a UT issue. It's gonna happen when there are 12 (or is it 13?) scholarships, but most teams only play 8-9 guys regularly. It's probably only going to get worse in the coming years with this year not counting toward eligibility.

If it were happening anywhere but where we are weakest, I would say there is no indication of a problem. This... Two of the three really weren't that strong so ... maybe no indication of a problem. Acunzo's reasons would be very interesting to know. Hopefully they can be said to be positive reasons for him or at least not negative on the program. Would hate to hear he wasn't happy either on the team or at the University.

RE: Acunzo Transferring
Maranka and Komagum isn't a shock, but Acunzo is IMO. All 4,5 guys. Now that cupboard is really bare as we don't know what we will get from AJ and will he stay healthy?

I hadn't considered the "free" year so that might be part of it as well. It will be interesting to see where they go, especially Acunzo.

Dear Coach K - where's the beef?

Doesn't Acunzo have 4 years of eligibility left since this year does not need to count? Really curious about the why in his transfer.

Who is the 3rd I only see 2 listed. Accunzo's loss will be offset with Jacobi coming in someone mention shumate after next year does he not have 2 more years as the clock did not count this past year?

Never mind saw on another post Maranka is the 3rd not surprising think he is probably a DII player but it was worth kicking the tires on him

That makes 4 with Jones who never played. I assumed he was one of the three. Missed Maranka. Acunzo’s is the real disappointment.

Fletcher. Both players were obviously huge additions. It is obvious with the loss of Acunzo and Komagum, we need immediate help on the interior as was glaringly evident in our tournament losses to Ohio U and Richmond.

We’ll probably end up with even more guards/wing players now.

We’d be a national power in a “6’5” and under” league.

It is possible to have postseason success with an offense reliant on 3 point shooting. 15 seed Oral Roberts just upset 2 seed Ohio State in the Big Dance by shooting 11/35 from 3. Oral Roberts leads the nation in made 3's per game with 11.3. Toledo is close behind at 10.5

Now TK has to figure out which players will fit his style of play on the court and culture off the court. I throw out one name that I've seen play several times and that is Western Michigan Soph. 6-8, 250lb. Center/Power Forward Titus Wright who just put his name into the Transfer Portal after averaging 8.7ppg. and 5.4rpg while shooting 56% from the field. I am not sure what happened at Western Michigan and how he would fit in with Toledo, but I would think the coaches would do their due diligence as he is definitely someone that could help Toledo on the interior. He is from Georgia so maybe he'll want to go back closer to home.

Isn’t this a 2-way street? TK can “want” anyone and spend all his time /effort chasing a couple guys... doesn’t mean they want to come here. Then everyone’s taken/gone.

Yea, if you make them. 1-14 doesn't cut it when you have nothing else.

Despite some deficiencies in their low post offense and defense they both played important roles this season and I was hoping for improvement next year. Kowalczyk has some important decisions to make right now about style of play and the roster for next year. At this moment Edu, Maranka and Shumate provide all the size and strength. Richmond took over the game Wed. by dominating the boards and pounding the ball inside. Hopefully K has a line on some tough, experienced, skilled bigs transferring into the program
Maranka gone also. Shelf is bare when it comes to big men right now.

Wish he were a bit bigger all way around but his style of play & results would put him in the right zip code for what one of our needs...
