Little: Has one year to play. The Division II preseason All-American averaged 16.6 ppg, 8.3 reb as a senior.

He leaves the USI program eighth all-time in scoring (1,313), fifth in rebounds (797) and fourth in double-doubles (24). From Indianapolis.

RE: Acunzo Transferring
I really like acunzo and think he will end up as a good college player plays hard has skills and a feel for the game. Still shumate and milner are better right now and edu is clear to resume playing any day so acunzo is looking at two years of being at best the first guy off the bench if we put three bigs on the floor or second off the bench if we play three guards then less time. Plus jacobi is very good and would have challenged him for pt. He was the guy i was hoping wouldn’t transfer as i except all the other key guys to come back. Still doesn’t change much acunzo was listed at 6.7 as a recruit then 6.8 on the roster. I imagine jacobi will be listed as 6.7 and he’s a bit quicker and bouncier. With the big romanian we have someone comparable to komagum off the bench behind edu. still have 3 forwards at least with the probability of adding a transfer forward and a talented, if youthful, group of guards.

I hope he's a hell of a lot better than Komagun. He's got offense.

I think this is a good assessment, as well as a motive for him to leave.

There has been nothing but bad news with this team the last few weeks. I'm still bummed. Seeing guys leave makes it worse.

For those of us who are old, and want to see the dance "one more time" - time is running out.

With the MAC being a 1 bid league there is no room for error, or some bad luck. We've had both.

I hope coach K (and I'm still on his side) can pull some rabbits out of his hat.

The new guy looks like he fits the need, but there is much more need to be had. Losing MJ and Spencer (I'm guessing) will matter.

One way to look at the 3 guys leaving, speculation on "the 6-11 big", Moss getting eligible, MJ and Spencer coming back?, transfers coming in, you name it, it certainly not boring! Imagine what it's like at WMU and Kent. At least we have fodder for us to chew on.

UT MBB is like a weekday TV soap opera, especially this year..."The revolving apartment door"...who comes in next? 04-cheers

Rooting for OU right now - geez guys!

They want to double team/trap Preston as soon as he gets the ball. They need to figure that out, let him run wild and get in their head.

Only MAC team left

Just what we need is a 7’0 250 lb. center that probably is dominant in HS or prep school because of his height but will have to make major adjustments in college. With his size and weight I would think he would be more of a space eater than a “ leaper”. Aside from height, I think we have had players like this before that were projects and end up lost on Coach Ks bench. Being 7’0 and getting only a few D1 offers might tell u something.

well, the last few big projects we brought in were boothe, maranka, and knapke. so, 2 out 3 from my memory worked out. komangum was a last minute juco recruit during covid signed for depth. so, he's different. i trust our staff in developing bigs and chances are the romanian becomes a good player. i wouldn't expect a lot early on, but he has some skill and lots of size. that's a good start. just hope we add a transfer guy with some strength inside as well.

RE: Acunzo Transferring
Pono: I appreciate your response. Watching some of the successful teams in this years tourney, I can see why we’re not one of the teams playing. Most have great team speed...something that was definitely lacking in the Rockets. Signing a 7’0, 250 lb. space- eater seems to imply, at least to me, that improving team speed is not a priority. This board doesn’t like discussing other teams, especially teams not in the MAC. I attended Rutgers after UT and have followed their success. If you saw the Rutgers victory over Clemson their center, not heavily recruited, is the reason they are in the Big Dance. About 6’9, over 7 foot wingspread, leaper, shot blocker....and was a PROJECT. I would hope UT would be eagerly trying to sign someone like this. Like other Rocket fans I can’t wait years for a player to develop. I graduated about two years after Nichols replaced Eddie Melvin. It didn’t long before it became evident of Nichol’s coaching abilities...much shorter than the 20 year cycle we’re in right now.

There are plenty of 6-11,240# centers on Big Ten teams.

richmond isn't backing down our small forwards in the post with edu lurking around on the weakside to swat their shot into the stands, just sayin.

There might be loads of 6’10 240 lbs. centers in the Big 10, but they weren’t ONLY recruited by Chicago State and Toledo. Maybe we should wait a see if Ken Epperson’s son enters the Transfer Portal....he’s not playing very much at Creighton.

The site I saw said he had several offers-only one I recall was SIU-Edwardsville or SVU-Miami or something but there were about 8.

Yes, we have had some very good big men during TK's tenure. Boothe broke the school record for career blocked shots. Then, Knapke broke Boothe's record. And Edu led the MAC in blocked shots per game during his freshman season.

Shumate had zero Div1 offers, and Jason Preston scored a couple of points in his HS career...
Some players reach full potential at a later date...
Will have to see how this all plays out ...

The more I think about this (know that means jack poop) the less upset I am we have Shumate and Milner 2 more years Edu 3 more and Jacobi might have taken his minutes anyways. I am sure in their exit interview Coach K mentioned this all to him as well. Of all those guys Accunzo might be the one I will miss the least even though I thought he would be a very good player bu the end of his career

Acunzo had some skills but was vertically challenged... Probably barely able to jump over a Ritz Cracker... Going in for a power layup sometimes seemed to be an endeavor...
