and now if MLB does nothing, they pretty much are condoning throwing at a player.
The umpiring crew was more rational than La Russa -- the Twins' pitcher and manager were ejected.
Should Duffey be suspended as well? Yes. In 2020, Joe Kelly was suspended 8 games out of a 60-game season for throwing at an Astro; that's the percentage equivalent of a 22-game suspension in a 162-game season.

If I'm Mercedes, what's my reasoning for continuing to play for Tony LaRussa at this stage?

If he had any leverage, he wouldn't. But, the system disadvantages players unless they've been in the majors for several years.
Mercedes is a 28 year old rookie in MLB, and if he made waves the White Sox could scroo him by sending him back to AAA just long enough to make him wait one more year until he's arbitration eligible. Even if he stays in the majors, the earliest he could be arbitration eligible is after the 2023 season.

Duffey is a Rice Owl - ordinarily I give Owls the benefit of the doubt, and I'm sure he received direct or very clear indirect pressure to send Mercedes a message. But "retaliating" over this was just ******* stupid.

Pujols with a hr. He's now 3-9 for the Dodgers with a HR and 4 RBI.
Of course he is.

Think it was Jose Goday. 3 guys debuted on Friday and he was the last of the 3.

RE: MLB 2021 Thread
after a rough start in the first inning where he loaded the bases but got out of it goving up only 1 run, and a leadoff triple to start bottom of the 2nd, Charlie Morton settles down and has a great start, going 7 innings to rest our bullepn and striking out a bunch of Sox. Also, the Panda, in his ceremonial return to Bostson where he didn't exactly earn much of the $93 million contract he signed there, has a three hit night and actually got all the way around the bases to score a run without it being a homer. When you say Panda and around in the same sentence, usually you're talking food, not runs.
And Boston has been doing well, going 7-3, but falling out of first place in the AL East due to the Rays incredibly winning 11 straight to take over. The East IS the beast this season, just it's the AL version, while the NLeast plays "who wants to give it away more?" so far. Everyone's still in it, even your Nats, Stever, so don't fret. Lotta ball to play yet.

All those Tommy John surgeries -- combination of the gunk that pitchers put on the ball plus the all-out effort to increase spin rate?

yup.
And the thing is- we're not even at the part of the season where the much longer season this year will factor into things. It's just going to get worse.
