This is just so California...

I really need a pic of Ohtani sitting on a BART bench.

Sadly it seems no one snapped a pic.

Apparently Ohtani and whomever was with him messed up on transferring trains. Either they didn't get off the train from SF at one of the stations where you can transfer to a Coliseum-bound train, or maybe they did transfer but got on a train going north through the East Bay instead of south to the Coliseum.

Now I'm getting flashbacks to the countless times I stood on a BART platform at MacArthur or 12th Street stations waiting to transfer to or from SF.

I have traveled frequently to San Francisco for meetings but because OAK has more reliable weather I almost always fly there, taking BART across the Bay. As often as I've done it I'm far from a local and can't count the number of times I've gotten off to transfer at the wrong station, or run to the wrong track (or wrong side of the track). It's pretty easy to foul up.

It's easier to not get confused at MacArthur, though I think they don't always tell riders to transfer at that station? Also, for someone who isn't local, it would be easy to just get on the wrong train because the transfer station announcer rarely announces intermediate stops like the Coliseum.

Such a shame when players can't behave themselves. This is terrible to read about. It also seems that his wife was charged with battery against him last year (June, 2020, when she assaulted him with an object) as well. There's a lot of problems with their relationship, apparently. From what I'm reading, Braves will likely be able to avoid paying the rest of his salary, and in a sad way, after this is adjuicated by both the authorities and baseball, Braves will have a chane to add someone else to replace his productuion. Last year he played great...this year he was down in almost all areas...way down. I'm guessing his home life was also having an effect on his production, perhaps? For his and his spouse's sake, I hope this is a wakeup call for them both to work on theirmselves, and for the sake of their children. Nothing is more important than that.

Meanwhile, Braves got battered 13-2 and had their other 2 games against the Metz postponed due to weather this time. What a mess the NLeast has become this season.

No team in the prior 13 cases of DV has been able to avoid paying- so outside the suspension part of things, Braves would be on the hook most likely. No team has ever tried to void the contract.

It's embarrassing, but it didn't cost his team. It's a home run whether or not he runs into the wall.

An all time worst blooper would have to be something that is not only boneheaded but also costs the player's team the game, or at least badly hurts their chances of winning.

I'd like to personally thank the Braves fans for waking up Juan Soto.

0.7 fWAR 112 wRC+ thru Sun
1.2 fWAR 131 wRC+ now

Maybe yelling overrated wasn't the best of ideas.

That was a sorry perfomance for a Braves team that thi year has just been "off" in many ways. Leading the leagyuue in HR, but not much else. Nice to see Riley coming along this yar, but our BP sux, and they should have re-signed Melancin and Duvall.

lol.

What's been up with Freeman? He's looked awful against the Nats this year- in a way that I've never seen him before(3-30 with 1 HR for a .100 avg/.470 OPS)

He had a big one last night against Philly too(he has hit more HR vs Philly than any other team in MLB). Great pitchers duel with Max Scherzer over Zack Wheeler.
