Damn. Whoever gets Luke will be lucky to have him. Proud to share an alma mater with him.

* Looking up D1 programs in close proximity to great bass fishing * just kidding.... Maybe.
He dated his high school girlfriend throughout his whole time here. Wouldn't surprise if he wants to play out the rest of his eligibility near her and family.

Nothing but thanks for and gratitude to Luke. I have so much respect for him. He epitomizes everything about W&M in general and Tribe hoops that we espouse. So proud to be a fellow alumni with him. Thanks so much for everything Luke and for always leaving it all out on the floor.

Obviously wish we would get one more year with him but wish him the absolute best wherever he goes and will cheer him on like crazy!

He’d fit really well anywhere, but I wouldn’t be shocked as many might guess if he ends up in the Big 10 somewhere. His style of play would fit Wisconsin to a T.

RE: CAA MBB Transfers 2021
Luke has been a total class act his entire time at W&M. I hope he has a great career ahead of him and an excellent start to a graduate program with a final college basketball year thrown in. Unless he goes to JMU or Hofstra, I will be 100% pulling for him next season. Even if he were to do a grad year at either of those places, I'd pull for him but against his team.

Right now, I am hoping to get to cheer him one more time at graduation. Fingers crossed for parents of another 21' grad.

He gave us 4 great years, can't blame a guy for wanting to get a free 5th year/masters degree from somewhere. Would love it if he decides/wants to stay here for it, but if he goes elsewhere, I hope he crushes it.

Nice message from Luke, makes it seem like he's pretty set on playing the 5th year elsewhere.

RE: CAA MBB Transfers 2021
It is my guess that we can add a player to our roster who gets an additional year of eligibilty because of Covid, but that we would have to have one of our normal 13 scholarships available in order the bring that player in. It is my further guess that we can only exceed the 13 scholarship player limit to the extent that we have extended a scholarship for an additional year to one of our own players who is opting for an additional "Covid" year.

Does anyone know for sure what the rule is?

Best of luck to Luke. The years of guys like Nate and Marcus playing out eligibility at W&M may be a wrap.

I think the days of guys playing out their eligibility at most schools is a wrap. A productive RS Jr at the mid major level is as good as gone.

Brevin Galloway to announce today. His final six are Hofstra, Boston College, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, VCU, and Charleston. Interesting that he would consider moving to a different school in the CAA.

WM was interested in Kolek when he was a high schooler in RI, with Coach Kemp and WMTribeMBB following him back then. He was the A-10 rookie of the year. So far he has only followed back coaches from Iowa, Ole Miss, and Stanford.

Didn't realize GMU had let Paulsen go.

‘ But his coach, Dave Paulsen, was fired after the season, causing Kolek to enter the transfer portal.

"I felt like I just had to weigh all of my options after that. He was a big reason I went there in the first place," said Kolek.’

And

‘ And he is looking for a perfect fit for four more years of eligibility.

"The real question is who's going to stick around and who’s going to continue to build a relationship with me and go forward with me in this process," said Kolek.

Kolek told me he is not in a rush to make a decision and so far, has heard from 50 coaches from every basketball conference in the country, including the top six.’

Jeff Borzello tweets:

“ George Mason transfer Tyler Kolek has heard from Boston College, Providence, Vanderbilt, TCU, Notre Dame, Stanford, UConn, Saint Mary's, East Carolina, Davidson, Richmond, Wofford, Loyola Chicago and Butler. A-10 Rookie of the Year, averaged 10.8 points this season.”

A name I want to throw out there is 6’6 rising JR Cobie Barnes from Indiana St. When he entered the transfer portal on 3/9 he and WM incoming freshman Langdon Hatton started following each other (they’re from the same part of Indiana). Coach Kemp followed Barnes prior to joining WM’s staff.

Another name to throw out there: 6’6 grad transfer Melik Martin from Monmouth. Martin and DoBO Bollinger are products of the same AAU program York Ballers.
