I get that. But, it also renders the regular season all but meaningless for most mid-majors. Two sides to the coin.
Before/After Conference Tournament
2014: 6/8
2013: 7/6
2012: 9/8
2011: OUT/12
IF we hold home court in 2014, we probably go in as a #4 seed. The most useless tournaments for us were 2011 and 2005. In both we were out before the conference tournaments started. 2011 put us in, and of course in 2005 we came within a couple of free throws of a cinderella run.
Totally useless, those conference tournaments. A complete waste of time.

That blowout loss in the first round to UConn in 2014 was a program killer for Pastner. He never recovered from that. Ended up having to play Virginia.

They are just being lazy by slotting teams...
They assume the AAC is going to get two teams so they just throw the current 2nd place team into their predictions.

Actually Wichita state has just flown under the radar. They have a better resume than smu or memphis don’t really understand the net ranking.
They are 3-3 in first 2 quadrants. They have a quad 1 win. Their worst loss is quad 2.

Good news is when we play there it should be a quad one opportunity for us. They still have 2 games against smu as well and 1 against Houston.
The schedule is laid out with memphis, Wichita state, and smu to each control their own destiny. When the dust settles one of us will be in good position.

Have to make it through this ECU game first.. ECU riding high off thd Houston win AND got moved to national broadcast.
On top of that, if Gardner starts going off we dont really have anyone who can slow him down 1-on-1, too big for Quinones and too crafty/strong for DJ and Nolley.
The ultimate trap game for Memphis

No I don't wonder ---4 years is enough time to learn anything-----like the people on hear saying after 40 years of Penny being in the game ---that he didn't know how to install an offense ----4 years or 40 years --BB is not that hard

There are exceptions, but the majority of players at this level began learning fundamentals and developing skills at a young age. That’s how they got to this level. Most players Cisse goes up against are honing those skills. Cisse is still trying to learn the fundamentals. Four years is nothing. BB at this level really is that hard.

Pastner didn’t do so well once Joe Jackson graduated and left campus. What was his record after that ? I bet you won’t answer that one.

I’ll play. In seven seasons since Joe Jackson, Pastner’s college coaching record is 111-102 (54-65), including 37-29 (18-18) at Memphis. His highlight is one NIT appearance with a team he inherited. He has been a .500 coach and become a perennial hot seat contender in five years at Georgia Tech. Are we taking about THAT Josh Pastner?
