Yep unless someone other than UH wins the tourney, the AAC is a one bid league unless the committee has a consensus opinion that the AAC subjectively should have another bid (subjective consideration being used regularly for other conferences in the past). That's what happens when you don't schedule, play & win some high level OOC games, notwithstanding the circumstances created by the pandemic.

Yep, becoming more likely everyday unless one of the top 3-4 can beat UH regular season (at least once) & everybody else, then make it to the conference tourney final..... OR win the conference tourney.

I disagree. We get these type of posts almost every year, at some point. And it literally never happens. Because they have to get 68 teams from somewhere. The AAC is going to have at least 2 of those slots every year.

And this year, some of the normal metrics will be thrown out due to the weird OOC scheduling distorting the SOS metrics. The committee will be able to slot teams from conferences that skew historical norms. I guess this could work against the AAC. But I'm thinking, they have to have 68 so we will get our 2 - no matter the NET or BPI scores on the second.

Not that many games played is one factor...

Secondly the Net cares about margin of victory and efficiency....

And we won by a lot and were very good on both sides of the ball...Plus it was on the road.

The advanced algorithm sites - KenPom, BPI, Sagarin - are very similar in their rankings.

The RPI is an obsolete mess, and I'm going to remove it from these updates going forward. They don't even use it any longer.

The NET is almost a hybrid of the RPI and the advanced algorithms. While it uses some efficiency scores in the rankings, it still relies HEAVILY on SOS.

Since the NET ranking for Memphis seems to be an outlier, and since this year's SOS is a mess due to COVID-OOC scheduling, I expect some big moves with this as it normalizes.

That's my long answer. Short answer - yeah it seems weird after beating lowly ECU, and doesn't really instill confidence in the NET.

Yeah, they took it out this year. Now it's just SOS and some form of an efficiency ranking.
