If you want a true "liberal" society, then you can't riot and delegitimize and then howl when the other merely side gathers and questions legitimacy. Pro-tip: if you want your counterparts to respect the sacred nature of your legitimacy, don't question their legitimacy on a 24/7 basis.
Me, I'm good and ready for hard-core federalism like a return to the Articles of Confederation, or a straight up national divorce, because someday this clash of ideology and asymmetrical political fighting will explode in terrible way that goes beyond trading insults online.
Now, who here wants to repent of the claims that Bush stole the 2000 election?
A few radicals on the left "riot and delegitimize" and they represent the entirety of those who don't like Trump.
81 million + people voted against Trump, but they don't matter because...Trump.
I used to think that Republicans were the grown-ups in DC. No more. The disillusion with Trumpism is incredible.

The Bush/Gore 2000 election came down to a difference of 537 votes in Florida. Florida going for Bush or Gore decided the presidency.
In 2020, Trump lost the Electoral College 306-232. Trump beat Clinton in 2016 306-232 and declared it a landslide victory.
Any comparisons between these two elections are absolutely ridiculous.
With that said, Gore conceded the 2000 election on December 13th, 2000. Hillary Clinton conceded the 2016 election the day after the Election. Al Gore, the Vice President of the United States in 2000 made the election official. Trump, 12 US Senators, & over 100 US Congress people are STILL not accepting the results of the election.
Your attempt to claim the Dems have done anything like this is factual incorrect.
I was still hearing "Bush stole the election" statements in, like, 2008, not just December 13, 2000. Hell, I remember them emblazoned on t-shirts (and much worse) on people walking around the Bernhard Center.
Up until about 5 minutes ago, people asserted Russia stole the 2016 election for Trump: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/arc...y/610570/. The election billboard on my drive in to work every day was Putin and Trump shaking hands.
Just try to be a little introspective here. I'll give you an opportunity:
Me: Trump needs to get over it, he lost the election. Bush woefully misunderstood the end result of the Iraq War. Bush Sr. violated his word on taxes. Reagan didn't take the AIDS crisis seriously enough.
Now, anyone care to sincerely criticize one modern Democratic president here, and not criticizing them for being not committed enough to your ideological liking?
You're trying to turn this into a broader discussion on political differences and deflect from Donald Trump's actions.
It is January 5th and Donald Trump is still claiming he won the election and is refusing to concede. Tell me which Democratic candidate in recent election history did that? The answer is none.

Never thought Bush "stole" the election.
Maybe helped by incompetence of FLA SOS and election process there.
But SCOTUS decided it, Gore conceded.
Democracy in action.
Nowhere near what is going on now with Trump.

Trump is a dangerous moron, but to think the Progressive Left would be any better is naive and foolish.
The two political extremes in this nation are extremely dangerous. Pleased Biden won, but we need a Republican Senate to keep the a radical "Defund the Police" nitwits pinned into a corner along with the MAGA azz-clowns.
Biden and McConnell can run things in a legit, centrist, way.

Yes, she did. Here is a link to Hillary Clinton's concession speech on November 9th, 2016. You can watch it with your own eyes.

Once again, any attempt to make a false equivalency between what Donald Trump is currently doing and any previous Democrat (or Republican for that matter) is not backed up with reality.

You need to take a cold shower.
Trump is a dangerous moron who will no longer be president in a few weeks.
That said, take a long, objective, look at the Orwellian "Progressive" wing of the Democrat Party and you will see many similarities to Trump totalitarianism. Likewise, Whitmer has become "Trump in a Dress" with her authoritative, uncompromising and whimsical (no presentation of the "science" used for her lockdown decisions) leadership style.
Hate Trump all you want - I do - but share some for the Democrats, too. They are NO better. Hate them ALL!

Absolutely.
The police brutality has been horrible and inexcuseable. However, it is an EXCEPTION and not a rule. The majority of our police, and police departments are solid. We need to address the specific cases, not endanger our communities by dismantaling our police forces.
There have been horrible cases of child rape in our public school systems (too many victims to name), but it would be irresponsible to defund and dismantle public schools to address the problem. We need to address it on a case-by-case basis because most all teachers, and school systems, are solid, just like our police forces.

It is a terrible name. It means redirecting some funds the police get to help prevent some of the things police shouldn’t have to deal with. Healthcare workers who are trained to deal with the mentally ill. Youth programs to help kids stay off the streets. Things like that.
They should have called it something positive like Community Investment. Calling it Defund the Police is a terrible marketing campaign for what they are actually trying to accomplish.

No Trump voters riot, but fear Trump riots...
Tens of thousands of Biden voters riot, but it's just a few and unrepresentative...

"Defund the Police?" Ah, no thank you!
Can you explain what you think they mean when they say defund the police, and why?
It is a terrible name. It means redirecting some funds the police get to help prevent some of the things police shouldn’t have to deal with. Healthcare workers who are trained to deal with the mentally ill. Youth programs to help kids stay off the streets. Things like that.
They should have called it something positive like Community Investment. Calling it Defund the Police is a terrible marketing campaign for what they are actually trying to accomplish.
Why don't you ask them what they mean? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/12/opini...olice.html

Look, if you guys want to demand Trump voters have a moral duty to be introspective and absolutely humble before you, can we see just a little reciprocation?
Nobody wants to take me up on the challenge of criticizing a Democratic president? Not one? What are you afraid of? It might somehow get back to you?

Whew! That's some disillusion there!
Who's fearing Trump riots?
Tens of thousands of Biden voters rioted?!?
Who told you that...?

"Trump supporters are running around Washington carrying assault rifles, Flynn is advocating martial law, Retrumplicans in Congress are talking about ignoring the Constitution-laws of the land to help him remain in office, former Secretaries o0f Defense are worried he will try to use military to hold onto presidency."
Like, do you guys even read what you right?
Gull Lake has it slightly wrong. Don't fear progressives because of their position on abolishing police; fear them because of their inability to believe they are ever wrong outside of the context of not being committed enough to the cause.
