Janac is definitely still on the team. And he never entered the transfer portal.
We knew Antonio would be back, but good to see Dunlap decided to return, as well (as he did graduate). Strange that none of the newcomers are included (e.g., Burbank's brother who was JUCO POY or any of the recruiting class).
Did Dunlap graduate? I think he was a true junior. I know Antonio did in three years, but did not think there were others.

Yes, I was told Dunlap did graduate. Glad he'll be back as he provides solid depth.

In the past the roster including incoming players (fresh or transfers) were not listed until the start of the Fall Semester. At least that is what I remember.

Would be nice if the "big time arm" would make his transfer announcement. It has been almost a week since he apparently signed on to transfer.
I am anxious to discover how big time he is.

I'm pretty sure Janac is no longer on the team. You don't need to be in the transfer portal if you're going to end up at a JUCO.
I'm sure the roster will be updated soon with the new additions. Patience folks. The new school year will begin soon enough.

Excited to see that Tanner Fox will be an Owl. I remember when he was literally in diapers at the games I played with his brothers - very happy for him and his family! Foxes are great ball players and even better people!

Kendall is reporting that SS Pierce Gallo, a redshirt Sophomore from Marietta, GA and Clemson, is transferring to Rice. He was a 2-time all-state selection in high school, but redshirted the COVID-shortened 2020 season and had only 12 ABs this past season for Clemson.

Agree. It will be great to see the Fox family back at Reckling. He just announced his commitment on twitter. Big kid at 6'5", 215 lbs-- classic build for a RHP. Is he an incoming Freshman? What was his high school stats? (I couldn't find anything on him via google.)

It does appear that he is an incoming freshman.
Looks like he tops out in the high 80's right now but not much other detail.

RE: [split] Baseball Recruiting 2021 and beyond
One of the big arm transfers finally publicized his move tonight (I've known about it for a few days but didn't want to mention it until he confirmed it first).
(from Mark Berman's twitter feed).
RHP Cooper Chandler from Pepperdine says he’s committed to transfer to Rice with two years of eligibility left. Waiting on paperwork to make it official. Says he chose Rice over Texas, Baylor, Dallas Baptist and Hawaii.
Chandler was the WCC Freshman of the Year in 2018 and a Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-America that season. He's been a weekend starter for Pepperdine pretty much his whole career, but he's had some injury issues which have limited his innings the last two years? They were a top 25 team in 2020 before Covid cut short their season (and everybody else). He helped lead them to the 2018 WCC regular season title. His numbers have been good throughout his career - the key I guess will be if he can stay healthy.

RE: [split] Baseball Recruiting 2021 and beyond
Assuming he's finally healthy, RHP Chandler (6'2", 190 lbs) and LHP Burbank (JUCO POY) will make a formidable 1-2 in the weekend rotation. Has a career 3.17 ERA in 24 starts over 147.2 IP. Still has 2 years of eligibility. I hear he chose Rice in part due to the attraction of new technology, along with Bostick's developmental and analytical methods.
Wasn't injured in 2020-- 3 starts, 3-0, 18.0 IP, 20 Ks, 5 BBs, 1.00 ERA, .219 BAA.
Then the COVID lockdown occurred. Can't get much more dominant than that. Not sure if he was injured this past year or had COVID, but according to his bio, he utilized a COVID redshirt season in 2021...

BTW, he's from Frisco, TX.

Judging by tweets from Coaches Cruz and Bostick, looks like we’ve landed someone else.

Yeah, I noticed Paul Doyle did a similar post late last evening.
I think the Aggies got a transfer we were hoping for the other day.

Old news. BTW, he graduated after sitting out the year with an injury.
Maybe to insiders! Not to me LOL.

I don't think this is the one Bostick, Cruz and Doyle were tweeting about yesterday, but we just landed a LHP from Hawaii for the class of '22...

Super excited to announce my commitment to Rice University! Let’s get to work.
...can't find much info on him, but in the few games mentioned he average 2 Ks per IP.

6-2, 180 lbs, LHP from Hawaii. Perfect Game has his FB at 87 mph. Not sure how he found his way from Kailua to South Main, but welcome, or should I say aloha!
