Of course no one said it because it has nothing to do with anything. The days of having a live tiger mascot at a handful of home games is over. If you were close enough, maybe you saw him. They’re trying to create a new tradition where TOM IV (or whatever they decide) can be seen and enjoyed by untold thousands year round. Lots of possibilities.
...for money....
Yeah, butImean... have you priced a ticket to a Tiger football game lately? Sure, you could go on Tiger Lane for free, but not too many people would think of that, and fewer actually would do it.

Seriously doe, my wife read that to me in a news story linked from FB last night. I assumed it was the Daily Memphian.... she's always mumbling something about them.

So... AS I SAID.... TOTALLY SEPARATE.... This is going to be a total snooze. We are going to score a TD, and they are going to cut live to a Tiger @ the zoo whom couldn't care less, may be asleep, may even be currently taking a dump. If you can't do something right, just don't do it. You will look like a fool.
I can just hear the next Chuck Roberts trying to get everybody to notice TOM IV on the screen after a TD in some stupid sing-song voice "Hey, everybody! Look at TOM!!! He's on the screen, but here in spirit!"Shut up Chuck, that cat doesn't give a crap about this game. Doesn't even know it's going on.
I will admit, my emotions are talking right now, and they could very well surprise me with the quality of the connection-to-game with this, but I doubt it.
Tom III on the other hand, clearly understood the intricacies between defensive and offensive pass interference. You could almost see him sneering in disgust when the refs got it wrong through the years.
They threw a penalty flag on Tom III once. I don't think Tom and Tom II were ever penalized.
Was that the game where they randomly decided he was encroaching on the field and kicked him out?

Houston’s live cougar stopped attending games and has been housed at whatever their local zoo is for over twenty years. Students get free admission to the zoo. Maybe this partnership will include something similar. Lots to figure out. Gotta find TOM IV first.

Yes. I believe that was it. He is probably the only penalized live Tiger in the history of college football.

Absurd. The Animal Rights folks complained, the administration wet themselves, and here we are. Sorry if that offends, but its what happened.

Not absurd. I made no mention of what took them from point A to point B, because I have no idea. From what I’ve read, there was simply no one willing to step up and fill the shoes of Scott Forman. May have been a combination of things but seems it was a foregone conclusion that once TOM III left us, it would be over. But as I said, I really don’t know.

Yep, think LSU does something similar with the opposing teams logo in meat.

It's all about the costs involved. Take care of expenses and pay someone 100K to do the job full time and thousands of people would do it. It's a legitimate concern since we aren't getting a P5 payday every year. If the cost is 250k per year, it is $5 million that could be used to fund other stuff over a 20 year period.

We gotta get Pouncer more involved in the game.
wasn't there a basketball game a few years back when the mascot got tossed?

You cannot make an animal a major part of your life for 12 years and then not be affected when it passes. He had to be emotionally devastated and has not completed the grieving period.
