Leaves the A-Sun at 9, room for MEAC schools...

America East would go to 10

Man, somebody must be making some noise on twitter that the Chinese authorities don't like, I can't get through at all.

I had to search around to find out it is America East.

That would restore America East to contiguous status, if you ignore Delaware (as many are wont to do).

Is this the actual ASun commissioner because he’s saying it’s not true?

Also weird that he goes by ASunCommish and doesn’t mention his real name on there. I don’t believe WAC Commish Jeff Hurd does that.

Makes sense so does the CAA jumping to 12 with UMBC and UNCG

I just wondered ironically in another thread what might happen in NEC land without RMU, and wondered what’s to become of Hartford in an ever-increasingly public AmEast?

What does the CAA gain by adding those two schools? Elon/Towson have those markets covered. It's a 1 bid league, no need to divide the pie more.

Hartford probably wants CAA membership but if they really became uncomfortable with all the public schools then the MAAC is there too.

If they left I wonder if there’s interest in replacing them with Central Conn St—a school that needs to just be called Conn St.

And a D1 commissioner only having 653 followers? You'd think he'd get triple that just from member institutions.

Also, apparently the Atlantic Sun really isn't the Atlantic Sun anymore?

I'm happy their struggle to find a suitable conference is finally over.

I also find the very small amount of traffic on that account suspicious. Shouldn’t there be more?

RE: NJIT leaving A-Sun
Presuming it's true, the timing is curious (or it would be in normal times but maybe not so much in COVID times). The AE either has to scrap their double round-robin with another team or add two games to the conference schedule, when you'd imagine that schools are closing in on firming up their OOC schedules. Both sound like heavy lifts. Meanwhile, the ASUN teams now have two more games to account for, and they're already playing a double round-robin in conference, so it has to be OOC games.

EDIT TO ADD: I forgot about Bellarmine, which joins the ASUN in 2020-21. That said, based on Liberty announcing its women's basketball schedule, it appears the ASUN was going to have an 18-game round-robin that now will have the same 16-team RR they had last year. So ASUN teams will still need to find two more games.

I think NJIT will be in the AEC in 2021-22 no matter what, probably just trying to move it up a year. Probably why we haven’t seen anything official from NJIT

It wouldn't affect America East's calendar. 9x16 leagues just have someone on a bye each round (each team has 2 byes). With the incorporation of a 10th team, those 2 byes get filled.

By way of comparison, the official ASUN Twitter account has 7,461 followers, which honestly still seems somewhat small for a D1 conference but is certainly closer than 600+ for the "commissioner"

And now everyone's playing 18 conference games instead of 16, so if a school has its OOC close to if not completely settled, it'll have to move games to make it work. Unless you're saying they'd keep the same number of conference games and not have a RR, at least this season?
