Well it also helps AEC scheduling, by getting them to even numbers in many sports:

MBB, WBB, WS, FH (no change) now at 10
WVB, BB, MLX now at 8

WLX, SB stay at 7 (no NJIT program for these sports)
MS moves to 9 (oops)

NJIT still has to find a home for MT and WT. Maybe they stay ASUN?

They offer 19 sports. Could easily cut both, if needed.

Only Binghampton offers both M&W Tennis - men compete in the MAC, women are independent. Only other AE Tennis is Stony Brook, which competes in the Missouri Valley.

Nah dawg

Yup - it is public

Did NJIT ever have a BOT meeting about it? Usually there’s a BOT meeting and we have a Gameday thread for it.

MAAC or NEC would be a good fit for NJIT tennis teams. MAAC only has 7 each, NEC has 7 men and 8 women. Could always use a warm body or two for AQ preservation purposes.

The MEAC has some openings. And frankly it sort of makes sense geographically for NJIT tennis being mostly a DMV conference.

What does everyone think of the ASun commish? He basically said NJIT leaving was BS, then they leave the next day anyway. Surely he had some idea this was cooking. Why say anything and call BS on the rumors? I think he just should have remained silent and not said anything.

Yeah, I'm not sure what his play was -- did he think he could shame NJIT into staying? Was he, in his mind, building intrigue for the move by acting like it wasn't settled? (he did retweet the AE announcement). Whatever he thought he was doing I don't think worked; now he either looks like a) a very poor bluffer or b) unaware of what his own schools are doing. Neither are a good look.

I completely agree. Goodman and guys in his profession are usually 100% sure of things like that before they tweet news.

I've gotten a quick education in the Atlantic Sun over the past 30 hours. Apparently the commissioner has a real bug up his butt about the league being called the ASUN.

And re-reading his twitter feed, he's had great fun over the last 30 hours trolling twitter, including us.

So maybe the UAC is also an elaborate joke?

Good, now some of the realignment guys will shut up about it. Though, they will see his public statement as covering up for the UAC still happening behind the scenes.

I think the ASUN commish said the UAC scenario is now dead in the water. He did say there may be some regional realignment among conferences still in play.

Logical moves that could occur
Bethune Cookman to the ASun/Big South Football

Are there any others?

Based on that man’s twitter he really hates the name Atlantic Sun. Why the vitriol? Did an Atlantic Sun Conference fall down and land on him? Is he just lazy and doesn’t like typing all those letters? Did he never learn how to Atlantic so this is his way of covering?

I demand answers to these critical questions

That may seem logical, and on paper it probably is.

But you have to consider, 5 schools not in Florida would have to say yes.

Would Stetson say yes? Being basically next door?

Would it be good to have 10 football teams in the Big South? UNA and KSU may be against it because it automatically makes all their sports travel even more.

Lots of things to consider.

It was a student athlete vote a few years ago to change the logo and have the name changed from Atlantic Sun Conference to simply The ASUN conference.

I was not to sure if it would happened. I did mention that one school gets invited out would ruined the plans and NJIT happened to be the school.

Bethune-Cookman and South Carolina State could be interesting. Could ASUN get both schools?

The one the ASUN will have trouble selling Bethune-Cookman on is Liberty.
